I'm running the latest ATI drivers with nothing else in the background and I only get like 40-50 FPS running it at complete medium settings @ a resolution step below native. A lot of other games with more taxing requirements seem to run smoother with superior settings, so I have absolutely no clue whats happening.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

You definatly have something set wrong. I have the same computer and I get 54 - 60 on Ultra at 1080P. On bigger maps I get 35 - 40. Maybe check to see your settings in CCC and see if AA is forced.

It's definitely using application settings.

Check your battery settings if it's not set to High Performance.

Hi All,
I also have G73JH but with i5-520 (2,4GHz) on board and I cannot say the game runs always smoothly. All depends on amount of units and map. If map is with water, game starts with 40 fps if without water 60 fps - ultra settings.
Then, all depends on how many units there are. Sometimes fps drops below 25 fps if there are a lot of units.
Campaigne mode looks worse. Sometimes a game starts with 30 fps and very often drops below 25 fps during a battle.
Resolution is 1600x900 and using the latest ATI drivers. -

I'm have already played SC2 too on my G73JH but my SC2 is the demo one (only has first 3 missions of terran, 2 skirmish maps (for 2 and 6 players) which only allows terran as the only accessible race.
I've set mine on ultra settings, 1920x1080 and Vsync on. I usually get 40-41 FPS and ranges from 39-43 FPS. If I zoom-in or go to places in the map that are in the fog of war, it increases FPS up to 60.
If Vsync is turned off, the 40-41 FPS shoots up to 58-60FPS.
Turning-on Twin Turbo of Asus decrease my 40-41 FPS to 37-38 FPS which ranges from 36-39 FPS. Now I don't turn Asus' Twin Turbo for gaming anymore.
I have the following on my G73JH
Vbios: 012.017.000.004.035992
ATI Driver: 8.683.0.0
Bios: 211 -
ati driver 8.6 ? why so old driver

No way something must be wrong. I played it at 1600x900 and i used 3doverrider to force vsync and triple buffering. The game ran really smooth. I was running 10.11 drivers.

It's my stock drivers. It's working well and good (if it's working right, don't fix it
), no BSOD, GSOD or PSOD.
Poor performance in SC2 on G73HJ
