K so i play sc2 quite a bit (3k masters atm) and i'm only getting about 30 fps max on low settings (with itunes in the background)....kinda weird isn't it? Should I rma it? I'm thinking I could've messed it up playing monday night combat cuz it shut off several times due to really high temps (after some trouble shooting I noticed they were reaching 100c :O - something you wouldn't expect from a laptop of this caliber). I haven't done any bios updates and I have the model newegg was selling a year ago (1920 x 1280, 500g hard drive, 8 gigs of memory, ODD: dvd, etc.). Fast answers would be appreciated this is the only week I can rma it since college starts again next week! thanks!

    Are you playing on battery?

Plug your laptop in and choose high performance mode in power4gear.

Even with stock video drivers the and stock vBios you should be able to hit 40's max settings.

I agree with Amitosh, but also make sure none of the more "in-depth" settings have been changed or changed on accident. Make sure CCC is set to Maximum Performance, and make sure under P4G that the processor is set to 100% on both as well as Maximum Processor Performance

its probably overheating and going under throttling to prevent thermal shutdown. You can consider repasting.

that's the issue probably.. also your vBIOS needs to be updated and new drivers have to be used if you want better performamce.

The JH doesn't seem to throttle before shutting down, that's more an nVidia issue. Starcraft 2 doesn't play nice with zerg and high FPS, terran and toss you should get 40fps at FHD in high, but you won't get quite that with zerg. All the effects for rendering the creep really kill fps.

Pick the high performance setting. I always have issues with games if I am in anything but high performance.
