Need some help here. In October we bought a G750 JW, the Best Buy version. Great machine. But, a couple of weeks ago, my wife noticed that it wasn't charging even though it was plugged in. I checked it out, and the part of the cord that's hard-wired into the power block has broken away. The wires are still connected but the plastic part that attaches to the block has broken. The wire has to be set a certain way to make the connection to charge.
I would like to get a new one, and will buy one if necessary, but after only 5 months the cord is broken? Wouldn't this be something that Asus should be willing to replace? This was a 1200 dollar laptop after all.
Where's the best place to contact about this issue? I called the customer service number and the guy wanted to remote connect to my computer. Why I don't know. When he did connect, all he did was do a Google search for the laptop. Yes, the laptop came up, but not a link to a place to buy the cord. Now, I could have done a search myself. He seemed like he really wasn't sure what he was doing.
I sent all the info to Asus through their website and still haven't heard back yet. Been almost 2 weeks. Any other ideas?

They may replace it under warranty. AC Adapters normally come with 1yr coverage. If you are having problems getting it covered by Asus you can bring it into Best Buy and they should be able to help set it up.

Yep that should be covered especially after such a short time, i'd also advise not using the brick if you can for now since it's a fire risk.

My first move was to bring it into BB. They said it wasn't covered by them and that I should contact Asus. While I was there I figured it would just be easier to buy one. But, because of the power needs of such a big laptop, they said they didn't stock replacement power cords. I'm going to try and contact Asus and see what happens.

Yes the 180W bricks can be found online but 3rd parties don't tend to make them.

Call and find out if they can do a cross shipment for you to reduce your down time as you seriously need it for work.

BB typically wont cover it since its Asus's part, and as you mentioned they usually dont carry spares of it, but they should have helped you set up a warranty exchange. Going directly through Asus will cut out the middle man though.
