    Hey there;

It so happens that I like to keep my desktop clean; since getting the G73Jh I've not been able to find a way for it to remember that I unchecked the "Show Desktop Icons" option.

After playing and reading around, I realized that it is Power4Gear who brings them back every time it starts.

I'm wondering, is there a way to tell Power4Gear to not show the desktop icons?

And while we're at it... do I even need Power4Gear? Does it do anything else beside being a nais UI for power options?

CHANGE PLAN SETTINGS > CHANGE ADVANCED POWER SETTINGS > ASUS P4G POWER SETTINGS > HIDE DESKTOP ICON

i have installed P4G for the Twin turbo button and i like the interface :)
so if you don't care about the turbo mode button uninstall it
i am not using the turbo mode buton but i like every button from my laptop to be functional

    Woah, thanks, missed that one.

I downloaded the one from Asus a few weeks ago; it is 1.1.37. I ignore if it is the latest version or not.

Anyway, thanks, it seems to be working now.

I've observed the Power4Gear 1.1.42 and found its User Interface odd this time. If you select a power profile at its User Interface, the animation with waves moving pops out. If save button is clicked, the animation again pops out. After clicking Ok button, the animation again pops out.

While on Power4Gear 1.1.37, the animation only pops out after selecting on the 4 profiles and clicking the save button or the ok button doesn't make the animation come out.

I wonder what's new with 1.1.42 as it don't have a change log :( I hope this is a much better version.

Mine came with 1.1.28 too (from the Asus CD included), this version of Power4Gear from what I've read in this forum has having a problem with your desktop theme where after you've changed to a particular theme, then tried to reboot, you're theme will be back to the one before you've changed it.

When I've uninstalled 1.1.28 and installed 1.1.37, this problem disappeared on my G73JH-A2.

I had the "unable to change wallpaper image across reboots" issue when I first got my G73JH.

The problem was the transcoded wallpaper image that Windows presumably uses to make background redraws faster. Windows creates this image from any image you specify as your background wallpaper.

For some reason (maybe Power4Gear issue or a Windows 7 bug) the Asus background image couldn't be deleted or changed by Windows so it never changed.

The transcoded image can be found at

    %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\TranscodedWallpaper.jpg

Delete that file, set up your desktop wallpaper the way you want it, and it should work from there.

I never changed any P4G wallpaper settings.
