I have a Dynex HDTV. My wife's Compaq hooks up with it no problem via HDMI. But on my ASUS it says "unsupported connection". I have tried using Fn + F8 to cycle through the connections with no luck. Any troubleshooting advice? I really want to play games and watch some 1080p movies on the TV.

What's the HDMI port version on the Dynex? The SX has HDMI 1.4 ports. What about the cable being used? What resolution is the Compaq using?

Also check if there is a firmware update for the TV

    Case: 1598891

My TV model is the DX-24E150A11, it doesn't have a firmware update. I can't see anywhere what kind of HDMI version it's using. The cable is also a standard Dynex HDMI cable.

The Compaq uses 1366x768, but I can't get my Asus to work under any resolution, and I have tried all of them. The TV just says "Unsupported Signal". When I plug in the HDMI Cable, it silences the audio from my laptop, but I don't hear anything on the TV. Maybe I'l try VGA?

I'm not sure if this is related to the external display frequency configured on nvidia control panel.

    I found this support page:

    Dynex™ 24" Class / 1080p / 60Hz / LCD HDTV : Dynex

But note the L vs an E in the part number. The included HDMI cable is probably a HDMI 1.2 cable. I would suggest you get a CL2 grade HDMI cable:

    HDMI Cable

These are all 1.4 capable cables.

    Supported Resolutions 480i to 4k

Bandwidth up to 340 MHz per channel (1.02 GHz total)
Data Throughput up to 3.4 Gbps per channel (10.2 Gbps total)
    Deep Color 10-bit, 12-bit, and 3x16-bit (48-bit RGB or YCbCr), X.V.Color™

    HDMI® Certified Yes
