    Hey!

I had a problem with my G73jh beeping while on battery power. The sound came as the harddrive lamp flashed or something. If I connect the power supply the beeping goes away. Also, if I start a movie while the laptop is on battery the beeping went away. I finally found the problem, when I took out the logitech USB receiver for my Logitech MX mouse, the beeping goes away. When I put the USB thing in again, the beeping starts. I tried all USb ports same thing. The beeping seems to come from the middle of the computer. It's not a very loud beep, just very noticable and very annoying.

Can anyone explain what is going on?

Something to do with USB power saving features. Try turning those off in Device Manager -> USB Devices/HUBS

In Device Manager there are many USB things:
    Generic USB Hub
    Generic USB Hub
Standard Enchanted PCI to USB Host Controller
Standard Enchanted PCI to USB Host Controller
    Usb Composite Device
    Usb Composite Device
    USB Root Hub
    USB Root Hub

I uninstalled the first Generic USB Hub thing and the beeping went away, but so did the Mouse receiver, so I installed it again and the beeping came back. Can you explain where these power saving things are?

Ok thanks, it still beeps though. I tried a memory stick, and with that in it doesn't peep. But with my mouse receiver it does.

Have you tried updating the drivers to your mouse?

You can also go into Power management and go into the advanced configuration and you'll see options for USB there also. Personally that's where I would go instead of Device Manager.

Yes I tried all that, still no success :/

I find it weird that the beep goes away if I stress the video card or connect the power supply lol. I also figured out it's not coming from the harddrives.

I just found out that the beeping doesn't really go away while on AC adapter, it's just a more silent beep. Could it be that all laptops get this problem on the new wireless Logitech mouses using the darkfield technology? My other USB devices does not make the computer make this noise.

At this point, I'd try calling ASUS or Logitech (probably Logitech) for possible answers regarding this issue.
