I have this problem with my girlfriend's G73jh ever since I opened it. The screen doesn't turn on, well it seems like it is on and windows does detect it but I don't see anything on the screen. When I switch to the screen from a external monitor it looks like it turns on, the screen gets a tiny bit brighter but I can't see anything or really tell if its on. My girlfriend doesn't really take the laptop off the desk or use the screen on the laptop but I would like to fix it. The trackpad doesn't work at all. I had a problem getting the cable back in and it looks damaged.

    TLDR

Need to find a cheap screen for this laptop, 1680x1050 or better. Also need a new trackpad cable. Also the laptop randomly doesn't turn all the way on with some usb mice or keyboards. Any fixes for that?

    screen country.

Sounds like you've got some real issues with the computer. I'd suggest (if you're technically minded) opening it up and making sure everything is seated properly, and that there aren't any bugs hiding in side.

I checked out the screen while the laptop was on, used a flashlight and I see it displays. I'm guessing the screen backlight is out, is there any way to fix this?

Easiest thing to do is just swap the panel for a new one. If you still have your warranty coverage, RMA it.

Typically on those cables if the ends are getting screwed. You can normally trim a little bit where its damaged and lightly sandpaper to expose more contacts. But if it doesn't look like its been opened/messed with for the trackpad - I'd RMA it if you can.

I screwed up my trackpad but the ribbon is good, I did do a slight trim but tested the pads for continuity(sp???). I use mine as a mobile desktop so tracckpad loss isn't a prob to me.

I have no warranty left, does asus charge alot for out of warranty repairs? Not looking to toss a big % of what the laptop is worth for a small repair.
