I've read thru the G73Jh Problems & Solutions thread, did not help.
I will tell you why after explaining the problem.

While playing World of Warcraft or Sims 3, the laptop easily very quickly gets these rainbow colors, stripes with a noise. I have to hold down shutdown, to shut it down.

So I've updated the ATI driver to the newest, then that didn't happen no more.

But after 1 day, new problems accour, the same way but this time it starts to flicker a bit with rainbow color across the screen, not all over, but here and there. Then sometimes you see bricks of rainbow colors, not all over, but here and there.

But quickly ends up freezing, screen turning black while the laptop is still running.

Now I tried to follow the solution from HellCry where I was suppose to make a boot disk with these files of atiflash.exe/atiflash.chg and Beta.rom/Stock.rom!

I got as far to the booting (I used a DVD) then I wrote at A: atiflash -p 0 Beta.rom
    * Message was, file not found or whatever. And I tried that at C: D: whatever, I even tried to write -p 1 (dunno why)

Anyhow, could anyone tell me the safest way to fix this problem with the random special effects that accour on the screen making the screen freeze either black or with colours or with just flicker\blocks of different colors here and there.

Because to this date, I have the newest BIOS\and ATI drivers.. and I do not know what to do now..

Also I might aswell add that sometimes the G73Jh can go for weeks without anything of this crap, but then it suddently happens.. I do not know how I fix it, or it just vanish..

One moment it went fine with spraying AirCooler into vents but not this time, this time it seem like something different as the laptop don't shutdown, just this graphic problems.

Also sometimes when I am just in Windows 7 the ATI driver fails, shutdowns but nothing on the screen happens then, just get this tiny message at the buttom.

Well that's it, I'll go to sleep now and come back hopefully to see some feedback that isn't telling me to follow protocole of the Solutions & Problems thread as I already followed them and that didn't work, as I explained above.

    Cheers!

And oh yeah, while having just a Internet browser up right now, the GPU temp is 71.0 C ... but I don't get any problems while playing the game, the problems I explained was for my girlfriend laptop and they are exactly the same. But she also have about the same C but she gets problem, I don't.

Use a flash drive to flash the vBIOS? Sounds more like the PSOD to me though. Also that's way too hot just for browsing, I'm only in Firefox too but I have a much nicer 49C going on. You sure you're not overheating?

Is it overheating if the laptop doesn't shutdown?
And is it overheating if the temp is 71-80C when the screen starts to mess around? Freeze, make weird graphical blocks, stripes around the sceen?

Listen, each time the crash accour, not laptop reboot but only the screen "crash" was it turned BLACK and first time it turned out with STRIPES.

Btw, when I look at this:
    2. Flash the vBios:
Now here is a package with files you need to flash the vBios to either Stock or Beta:
    MegaUpload

    Files inside the rar are:
Stock.rom (the stock vBios), Beta.rom (the beta vBios) and Atiflash.exe/.cfg (flashing software for vBios).

    To flash the vBios:
    - Extract these files onto the bootable USB stick.
    - Reboot and keep pressing ESC.
    - When the boot menu pops up choose your USB stick.
    - After the DOS screen loads, type the following command:
To flash to the Beta vBios: atiflash -p 0 Beta.rom
To flash back to the Stock vBios: atiflash -p 0 Stock.rom
    - After you get the message that flashing is done and to reboot, just press CTRL+ALT+DELETE and youre done.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I do wonder if that HellCry wrote a error? As in the .rar file there is NO .cfg file has he explained above but a atiflash.cHg file, with a H.
    Is that correct?

And btw, this Beta.rom is it safe?

Jacob No 71- 80 in game is a fine temp, there should be no screen issues though.
I am sure HellCry's VBIOS works fine, many here are also using Chastity's G73/74/53 Series Driver and Application Reference
See Beta's section, Once you flash you should see this version
    Video BIOS Version: 012.020.000.032.038352
This will work fine with 10.1 or above ATI drivers.
As KuroLionheart said, your idle temp is high, what is your room temp?
and If flashing to Chastity's Vbios does not solve this issue you may have a hardward problem (PSOD)

    Alright.

But I made this boot DVD following HellCry instruction, and I put all the files that was told of me to put into the DVD booting disc.

So I booted with the disc, it automatic ended up at A: right.

Then I wrote what he said, all I got was unknown command, file not found or something.

    I don't have a FlashDrive.

--- Oh yeah and I almost forgot, GPU idle temp is about 64 C normally.
But after playing World of Warcraft for example and it's problem accours and try 3 times and it happens everytime, you give up.

Then you go back and like try to surf a bit but the GPU temp like hangs constantly at 70-80 C (idle)

But next day when it has been off for a while... it seem to go more steady..

Until later on the day, perhaps.. It's all very random.. Sometimes the laptop works fine for days, even weeks but then these problems accour.

I won't ever fix this problem, stripes again all over the screen.

I still have not seen anyone explain what I did wrong with my booting DVD disc.
And it's sunday, closed, only got DVD's no PinThing.

You haven't burned the DVD correctly, best I can say. Second, you really need to update your vBIOS, it'll fix your problem. Third, you really need to get your GPU repasted, find a shop that is willing to do it.

    Alright.

I bought myself a USB Flash Drive and updated my vBios to 012.020...
Did this also on my gf's G73Jh.

So if everything works like a charm against the rainbow stripes from hell, you won't see me coming back here anytime soon

    Thanks for all the replies.

The vBIOS flash will fix that without a doubt. The only other problem you may be having is related to heat. Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't believe that is something you'll be able to fix on your own. Hence why I said find a shop. At this point in time, if your laptop is crashing now, it'll be from heat-related issues.

There seem to be no heat problem really, we have a dog so that can probably cause a bit of a problem with hair\dust, whatever getting everywhere.

So I use a AirCan often but we the vBios flash my girlfriend could finally play The Sims 3 without any rainbow stripe colors from hell!

So it seem all good, still :) sweet.
