Funny, I could of sworn I made this thread before, I guess I must of dreamed it 0_o

Anyways, the problem I am having is when my computer goes to sleep (stand by) and I wake it up. When ever it comes out of it stand by, I see the Windows 7 splash screen spiraling to come together in SLOOOOW motion as appose to a few seconds for it to come together and another few secs and it boots into Windows. It takes a few minutes for the Windows logo to come together and another few minutes to load into Windows. More or less, between 10 and 15 minutes. Once its loaded into Windows, works PFERFECT, it restarts perfect, no issues, only when it wake ups from stand by.

    Anyone else had this problem?

Update your motherboard BIOS to 209 or 211.

I'm using Bios 2.11 with my Momentus XT in the second drive bay booting into Ultimate. I am not seeing your issue after returning from hibernation. Chastity's recommendation will probably solve your issue.

Sounds like he has the throttle issue on resume that was addressed in 209 and later.

I already have the 211 BIOS. Momentus XT is running on the 1st bay. I do have the 500gb HDD on the 2nd bay, both have Windows 7, I switch between them, working on transition over to the momentus xt.

My first drive is the 500gb Seagate 7200rpm and my second drive is the 500gb Momentus XT. Seagate drive runs Home Premium installed by Asus and second drive Ultimate installed by me. Also running 2.11 Bios and return from hibernation is quick as befits the installed drives. Perhaps placing your default Asus drive back in slot 1 and your Momentus XT in slot 2 may have a beneficial effect on that slow return from hibernation.

    Alan....

Could it be a firmware issue ?? I know some OCZ drives, like I have had problems coming out of the Windows ‘sleep’ state. That was fixed with a firmware update. So, I don’t know. I don’t have experience with the momentus drives. But it might be worth checking that you are on the latest firmware.
    Good luck.

I was considering switching them around, also considered reinstalling Windows 7.
I went to seagate's website and did not see a firmware update. ;/

Be sure to check what firmware you currently have on your XT using the utility provided on the site.

Kinda weird how this is happening.

    I have this problem.

Ive found that by just pulling the battery out and rebooting the problem disapears. Its seagate retardation it happens with both of my seagates in my laptop

the hd locks up and doesnt unlock up for a long time unless you shut off all power to it.

I find this thread fascinating. I have XT drives in my 2010 MBP, G72 and G73. Never seen this issue. I wonder what combination of circumstances must take place for the problem to manifest.

    Cheers,

Ah, that would be a test I won't be trying anytime soon.

Some Mac users complain about this drive's anti shock capabilities conflicting with the native capability in Apple laptops but I don't know if ASUS systems have the same issue.

I suppose I don't see some of these issues because I don't use the system for anything other than gaming and it's always on a desk with an external keyboard and mouse.

    Cheers,

Well I do not move it around much, as I put it to stand by, and then wake it up, it starts up sluggish. Really annoying to be honest.

Now I do not know if this has anything to do about it, but I do have the original HDD, 500gb seagate with Windows 7 on it too. The boot loader does see both Windows from the 2 drives. I highly doubt this has anything to do with it, but it is annoying and need it fixed. I was planning on wiping the old 500gb hdd to use it as storage but cant do that until I know for sure that my XT is working fine. Other then that, I haven't installed anything other then a few minor programs and games.

Also, I notice when the computer is booting into Windows (not from stand by but from a complete shut down) the splash screen takes a few seconds longer to come togethe as appose to the original none XT HDD.

When waking up from stand by, it takes about 10 minutes for it to boot into Windows. After that it seems to work fine.

Is there any way I can stress the HDD? I did use HD tuner, over all it was faster then the original HDD but it's minimal read was lower then the original none XT HDD. I will be benching them again and will post results. That might give some idea on what the problem might be.

LOL yeah I did, but we shouldn't HAVE to do that though.

Does taking out the battery cause the system to reboot or will it still resume>

its not the bios nor the hdd, the problem is with a corrupt hibernation/sleep registry. I had a problem with my hibernation, everytime i would put it into hybernation and woke it up, i had slow windows is loading logo and then the screen would not turn on. What i would have to do it press on the power button after the keyboard turnes on to put the computer into sleep and then wake it up and my screen would turn back on again. This is a problem with a frameworks update driver and some kind of asus sleep state registry something something...i gave my laptop to a certified MS tech at my office and he just told me to format and as soon as the laptop is operationnal, install all windows updates and check manually that you have the latest framework. Problem solved after format
