Hi everyone, I have a serious problem (I think) and I was hoping that one of you could help with it.
You see, its been less than a month since I purchased my G73SW-A1. Since that date, I did not have any major problem with it and Ive never updated its drivers (like NVIDIA, BIOS and such). Moreover, before going to bed, I usually leave it on with utorrent and the internet browser running before shutting it down next morning before heading to work.
Nonetheless, when I woke up this morning, I found out that my laptop had restarted by itself suddenly and the Windows user login screen was on. When I logged in, the screen was going off and on repeatedly with some pixelization dots all over the screen. Also, every time the screen went off and on, a message showed from the taskbar saying something like NVIDIA driver version 12.6114 stopped responding but it was recovered and the same message kept showing again and again with no end to it. So I restarted windows but the problem was still there and I couldnt shut it down normally so I had to use alt+shift+del to do so. After a few minutes I turned on the laptop again and the problem was gone. I left it for around 10 minutes before turning off the damn thing since I was late for my job by that time :s
My factory default NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460m driver is 8.17.12.6114
Anyways, I apologize for the long story but could anyone tell me if the problem will show up again and if it shows how to solve it? The thing is Im afraid that updating my NVIDIA driver wont solve the problem and might even complicate things even further.

After a forced poweroff/reboot always do a chkdsk
How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk) - Windows 7
Check your hard disk for errors
If that doesn't clear up the problem, reinstall your NVIDIA drivers from ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- -
Agreed, I would for the moment only use the Drivers on the Asus website for your Laptop.
I have the G53 and I had BSOD and lockups when I used the reference drivers from nVIDIAs site but in my case it may actually have been my systems BIOS which was v209 I updated it to 211 and I have not had any issues, Different model but I think similar if not same mobo. -
Also check if there is overheat problem.
