Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help me with my "little" situation here. I just received my G73JH today, and everything seemed to be fine until I started pressing the middle keys. Pretty much: 6,7,y,u,h,j,n,m all do not register. I pressed them as hard as I could and nothing. Every other key works except for these middle ones. So I'm just wondering if I received a faulty keyboard or what?

Could be a bad ribbon connection. You would need to pop out the keyboard, and open the bigger ribbon connection, and reinsert it.

    Hi Baul,

Make sure you read some of the discussions and watch some of the videos around these threads regarding the removal of the "keyboard" - It is my understanding that there is some pretty hefty doublesided tape used to attach the keyboard to the machine.

Practice patience and be careful when removing the keyboard and no damage should occur.

    Hope this helps,
    In Peace and Agape,
    Trav...

Well, I just opened the keyboard, which I must say was absolutely annoying. I reinserted the large ribbon, turned on the computer, and tried typing to find out the middle still does not work. Ugh, now what?

If you are crazy like me and would rather pay $35 for a keyboard than ship the whole thing to Asus and wait two weeks, you can get one on ebay. I may do that myself at some point because a) mine has the missing keystrokes problem and b) it doesn't lay perfectly flat since I've taken it out and put it back in twice. I know a new keyboard isn't supposed to fix the missed keystroke thing, but a fella can try.

    1) You could try cleaning out the keyboard socket connector.

    2) Try a new keyboard.

    3) RMA it.
