    Happy Holidays to all.

Not even sure where to start. I started encountering this issue after I updated my network driver.

I have a G73JW laptop with Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN. Whenever I resume the laptop after being suspended or on standby the network card becomes unavailable. The laptop indicates that networks are available but it doesn't show the list of networks. As if the network card is completely missing. The only way to get the network connectivity back is to uninstall the network card using Windows Device Manager under Network Adapters then use "Scan for hardware changes." Windows goes through the hardware discovery and installing the driver. After connecting to my wireless network everything works great. Until the next time I resume the laptop from.

This started happening after I updating the driver to version 14.2.0.10 dated 8/3/11. I've tried reverting to the previous version with the same results. This happens almost 9 out of 10 times.

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Device Manager - Network Adapter - properties of the card - power management tab - and make sure allow the computer to turn off.. is unchecked.
I hope this helps Ognat, have a good holiday

Thank you Josea. Already tried that setting. Unfortunately, not helping much.

Thank you for the reply, Chastity.

Unfortunately, that didn't work either. Actually, it was acting worse. I would lose the network connectivity on a restart. Right now, I have version 14.1.1.0 installed and we shall see.

I've had issues too with the 14.x series of Intel Wifi drivers (I have the Centrino 6300 in a Latitude E5500).

It would cause Suspend/Hibernate to hang if the laptop was connected to the network.
If that worked, resuming would hang on a black screen.

    14.2 not working
    14.1.1 not working
13.5.0.6 (the one Windows installs from Windows Update) works again.

Buy another card. From another seller/dealer. Some people swear they were sold fakes or replicates/rebranded cards. Or, maybe the card was damaged during transit/delivery. But that sounds like hardware failure to me.

I have the same card and it works perfectly fine on my G74SX

I've had the card for a while without any issues until I updated the driver from 13.5.x to 14.2.x. That's when I started experiencing the problem. For that reason I didn't think it might be hardware related. I did swap the 6300 card for a 6200 and it's working perfectly.

I'll probably troubleshoot it later but for now it's working. Thank you all for the tips and help.

First of all I know this is bumping an old post, but NOTHING is more annoying then hunting down a post, finding a user with exactly the same problem, and there not being an actual solution. However, I found the solution to the issue, and there is one company to blame, ASUS.

With ASUS G74SX, on a factory default setting, there is a utility, wcourier.exe. Wireless Console is responsible for managing active and inactive Wifi and Bluetooth devices. If it only did just that.

When you start your machine, the wireless console will disable ALL wireless and bluetooth devices, and activate them based on a list somewhere. Thats why you only see this problem when you restart your machine or in some different scenarios like sleep/hibernate every now and then.

How do you fix this? Well, first of all, uninstall all old Atheros drivers. To do this, go to device manager, in "View", check "Show hidden devices" and uninstall all NICs with the words "Atheros" and "Bluetooth" in them.

Then start up Windows services, (Services.msc), and disable Atheros services, you won't need them running in your background, eating up your resources. Also make them not start when you boot.

Then, heres the real killer, start up System Config (msconfig.exe), go to the "Startup" tab, locate "Wireless Console 3", untick the checkbox next to it, close that. This is the thing creating all the problems.

Now, after all that is done, reboot. If it still isn't fixed, reinstall the driver again and you should be set.

    --------------------

Alternatively: Reinstall Windows, this is all caused because of ASUS Bloatware...

TL;DR: ASUS, Stop with your bloatware. wcourier.exe is screwing up my NIC.
