I just received my G73JH-X1 today. I did a clean install on my intel SSD with the disks provided and then installed dirt 2. I played it and the game was very choppy I was expecting much smoother performance any advice? Also did a Windows experience score my cpu scored a 7.0, ram a 7.5 both graphics & gaming graphics options scored a 6.0 and ssd a 7.5 what is going on???????????????

I installed all the stock drivesr that came on the disks??

Strange, what kind of fps are you seeing? Obviously there are newer drivers to try. Most people report smooth gameplay with dirt2 with this laptop, so something is definitely wrong with your laptop.

What's the WEI for RAM? Is Windows recognizing all your installed memory?

I had the same problem with dirt 2, was noticing alot of lag and freezing in various games with alot of sound stuttering freezing I did a reinstall of 7. I think some of my direct x files got replaced before but I hadn't done a reinstall since I got it so it coulda been some of the bloatware as well.

There is zero difference between the ATI Graphics Driver supplied on the disc and the one on the ASUS website. They are byte for byte identical. How did you install the ATI Graphics Driver package, did you do an uninstall first or did you just install them? Can you go into BIOS (F2) and see the screen?

FWIW, the WEI I have here for both 'Graphics' & 'Gaming graphics' using the stock drivers is 7.2. So, as you know there's something odd going on if you only see 6.0.

    Try an external monitor.

Pull the power and battery and let it sit for a little while.

When I started up my G73 straight out of the box my graphics and gaming WEI scores were both 6.0 as well. I unistalled a few programs, updated windows and ran the WEI score again and they both went up to 7.2. I didn't change or update anything related to the graphics driver. Here's exactly what I changed:
    - Uninstalled Trend trial, 2007 MS Office trial, Office Live Add-in 1.3, Activation Assistant for 2007 MS Office
    - restart
    - Installed MS Security Essentials, CCleaner, Revo Unistaller
    - Unistalled ASUS AP Bank, Smart Login, ASUS Webstorage, Game Console (and ever game that came with it: Alice Greenfingers, Chicken Invaders, Dream Day, Smileville, Piggly)
    - Installed MS Office 2007
    - Installed all "optional" Windows drivers/updates and Office updates from auto update
    - Restart
    - Tested scores: 7.0/7.3/7.2/7.2/5.9

    Hope that helps

I don't know your situation, but at this point I would think exchanging it from the place of purchase would be a better option then sending it to ASUS.

By the sound of it I suspect your GPU was staying under clocked. In Power saving mode or such. My WEI for GPU is also 7.2

I cannot confirm this of course.
