I just bought a new G53SX-DH71 and it's all fine except for one thing. For some reason, the screen is flickering all the time with blue and red pixels. Not to the point where I can't see anything, it just distorts the color of everything. It does it when plugged in or unplugged. I'll include some pictures.

I am assuming that reinstalling the drivers after a clean and running an external screen runs perfectly normal?
This a common problem of a loose monitor cable and that is confirmed by it running perfectly fine on an external monitor. You need to get inside and sort out the loose connection.
I suppose worse case scenario it could be a loose connection actually in the panel. Hopefully not most likely going to be the adaptor running from the panel to the motherboard. The bloke banged or dropped it probably. -
How do I fix the loose connection, assuming that's what it is? -
100% from your diagnosis it is going to be the connection. When you are pushing the area you are it is obviously shifting the connector so it just needs plugging back in.
First things first are you under warranty to RMA it? Or have a tech friend who could get inside for you? Might be easier due to it being a model with little information around atm about taking it apart.
Otherwise the only way to get to it is by getting your hands dirty and by going for a disassembly I am afraid. Time is of the essence with a disassembly but the problem is that there is only one video about at the moment this one and it is pretty crap. But you do have the following guide here.
You could be a guinea pig and produce one if you are confident -
Well I bought it through Amazon Warehouse because it was used, so I don't know if it would be covered under that at all. I'm sure I could get inside, it's just once I'm in I'd be lost. I'd ask my brother, but he's more of a breaker than a fixer.
SO since I got it from Amazon, would Asus still cover it under warranty? -
You will need to find out from the seller if it came with a warranty but personally I would be contacting him and send it straight back. Cables do not easily come loose unless it was done during production there has clearly been some sort of trauma to the model for this to happen, as it is so new I would have expected it to have some warranty left.
Get in touch with them first before considering the other option, it is not a simple disassembly with these models once your in its pretty simple look for the cable that is loose -
It did come with a warranty that covers things such as drops, which I assume is what caused this. I'll see what they can do.
-
Simple fix really but without getting inside and taking a look it could be a damaged connector or cable as well so really best to get them to sort it out or send it in for Asus to fix.
Good luck post back the outcome
