I am in the market for a new notebook. I presently own a Toshiba x305 Q708 notebook, the updates for drivers have been horrible from Toshiba so i decided to look at other brands. I am very interested in the upcoming asus rog g74sx 3d
but am curious about how well Asus is at releasing updated drivers for video etc. I am kind of torn right now between the Asus and the Toshiba X775-3DV78.

I think the problem i ran into with my x305 q708 was that many of the modded drivers did not work for the q708 model due to the buggy hybrid graphics solution. It was a very expensive laptop at the time and the owner base for that model just was not there. I just do not want to buy another notebook and after 2 months be SOL on new drivers.

Thanks for the reply with the link to the g74 forums. There seems to be a much better owner support base than there is with Toshiba.

    Thanks for the compliment. :)

Also, Asus likes to set up the hardware to be able to use the OEM's driver releases, at least with the ROG models. This way you get continued driver updates.

For the most part, the ASUS machines will work with the OEM releases as Chastity mentioned. There have been exceptions, but overall I haven't had an issue with my ROG and upgrading the drivers. The ASUS site isn't always up to date with the most recent drivers, but if you have an issue with an OEM driver you always have access to the latest release that ASUS has tested and confirmed for the unit.
