I was just wondering a few things about the Best Buy model of the G75 ($1249.99).
1) Does it have a gimped version (128 bit) of the GTX 660m like how the Best Buy G74 had a gimped version of the 560m?
2) Is the screen resolution 1920x1080? (Previous best buy G7x's had 1600x900 screens)
3) How is the screen's contrast ratio and viewing angles?
Thanks

1) GTX 660m is only avaliable with 128 bit. GTX 670m comes with 192 bit. No gimped version this time in BB.
2) Yes, the screen is Full HD 1920x1080 pixels.
3) I dont know about this particular question.
I hope this help you. -

All the hardware is legit this time, no gimped anything.
Best thing to do is go to BB and checkout the screen yourself.
Your own eyes won't lie.
My one minor thing I don't like is the 2 tone scheme, looks off making it look cheap even though it probably isn't. -
People actually buy things from BB? Only real notebook enthusiasts buy from Newegg or from a barebone retailer (Gentechpc, Xoticpc, etc).

The reason to buy from Best Buy is because you can walk in and test it out, they are actually selling this for the best price for once, and if there are problems there are people you can directly confront. From what I have seen, the Best Buy G75 is fine, and I didn't notice anything strange with the screen.

also with a bestbuy card you get an extra 3% off, which is nice when purchasing a 1500 dollar item...

Some other things I noticed (compared to G73):
1) Touchpad is much larger and there are two separate click buttons
2) The design is a little more sleek and streamlined and somewhat thinner
3) The speaker grill looks better and it seems like it won't trap dust
4) There are 4 USB 3.0 ports and I think a Thunderbolt port (yay!)
I may even consider buying it if I can sell my G73JH for a decent price...it is in great condition with no scratches or dents.
How much do you guys think I could get for it? -

...of course waiting till the end of two more years brings me to the next set of die shrinks for Intel and the GPU makers. I am certainly getting my $1200 worth on any account.
[edit] Truth be told, I think buying any laptop that doesn't have a 7970m is a waste of money. Yes it is more, but coming up with another ~$300 is better than wasting the ~$1250. The 660m is too close to the two year old card I got to really justify spending so much. -
I just recently picked one of these up over the weekend, and I'll be honest the screen looks grainy and fuzzy on certain parts of the display (large words or various images on a webpage for instance). It's hard to describe, and I have zero experience with Matte laptop screens so I don't have a good comparison, but I wouldn't classify it like some of the reviewers on the Best Buy website have ("stunning graphics display", "display is glorious", " "Amazing Display").
I read on the g75vw owner's lounge thread (page 28) that someone else questioned whether the screen was supposed to look like it did. One of the folks who responded agreed about the graininess, but had to exchange his machine due to a bad battery and the replacement's display is much better. That might be the route I end up taking, if for nothing else than to look at a 2nd machine and determine if that's just the way the screen is. -
It is possible you got a bad display, trying to return it can't hurt.
