    Hey folks.

I've been watching my G73's repair status like a hawk since it arrived in California at 1 PM yesterday. Since I checked its status in the evening yesterday, it's still "Repairing", and rate of repair completion is still 0.0%.

I'm curious what the latter means. Will this number change?

Also, what days/hours is the repair facility open (Fremont)? I know they'll have labor day off (right?) but do they work weekends? What hours do they work?

Safe bet is that they operate during 'normal business hours', 9-5 weekdays. It's been a while since anyone has really posted about an rma there but iirc, the % status depends almost entirely upon parts availability if yours needed something - it's possible to go from 0>100 instantly. If you need a gpu or a mobo you are sol, most competent places will do the labor the same day they get the parts if they aren't horribly backed up.

Hm. It shouldn't have needed a GPU or a MoBo. I told the tech to "replace the GPU at your descretion since I have the GSOD issue". This was before Gary's fix. Dunno. I guess I'll see if they're open tomorrow and give them a call.

FYI a week ago asus rma replaced my laptop because they had to wait until sept 10 to receive shipment of GPUs for both the Cali and Indy shop. So I believe you will be waiting until at least then before they even receive your parts. Also mine was in wait status for parts if yours is in the repair status they may not be replacing parts.

I had mine in the shop for over a month. 23 business days, iirc? Anyways, sent it back in because they returned it with problems. 2 days and I had a replacement unit. Seems like they don't mess around when you're returning a previously "fixed" RMA.

The status is always behind the actual work. I think mine went from 0% to completed after I had it returned.

I can tell you from my experience because it is the worse I have ever had. My notebook was RMA for the video card dying (Not by GSOD). It took me a month and a half to get it back. Asus told me it takes 14 business days. I am was in the same boat as you really wanting it get it back asap. I heard some gets it back within a few days and others longer than me.

I hope what happens to me doesn't happen to you. Good luck!

I also sent my N61JV laptop to Asus(Fremont location) on the 3rd of Sept. They just received it today, so about a 5 day shipment due to labor day weekend off hours.

I am curious whether my N61JV laptop will be fixed and shipped back to me by Monday. I am leaving on Tuesday for College south in San Diego, so i hope it will arrive at my house in San Francisco before i leave for southern California.

(My N61JV suddnely froze while i was browsing the web, then it powered off by itself. Later, i could smell burnt plastic and metals. My laptop keyboard area on the left side was extremely hot also. My laptop didn't work after that, although i could still hear my laptop's fan running when i press the power button.)

And if i do receive the laptop back, will it be in factory new condition (with boxing/tags/stickers/manuals etc..)? I might probably resell the repaired N61JV once i receive it back from Asus.

HA. no. I sent mine back in factory condition, and because I dropped it off ... when I picked it up, it was just the laptop and cord which was handed to me. No box, and when I asked about it, they said they threw it away, and didn't have a replacement.
