What the hell is going on with this laptop? It's been sold out EVERYWHERE for weeks. Any time any retailer replenishes their stocks at all, it's almost always gone by the end of the same day.

Most likely because of the imminent Pascal GPU refresh inbound, most laptops have diminishing stock in anticipation of this. Stocks should be much higher around September when the new cards have launched.

Edit: Also its literally the Asus Zenbook Pro UX501VW just skinned in black.

And on average, $300-500 cheaper. I just want a thin and light laptop with a TB3 port. I'd get the GL502 but for whatever reason, ASUS opted away from including TB3 on the newer generation of laptops. I've spoken to a few retailers and most said that chances are very slim that they'll be getting more in stock.

Yeah so if you can wait for Pascal you'll have a lot more options. Any reason your looking at Asus? There are plenty of other options out there, you don't need to narrow your options down to that. An MSI GS60 could be like 1400 with a thunderbolt III port.

    Or anything else here:

Specifically because I figured I could have a 6700HQ, 960m, and a TB3 port in a thin/light laptop for under $1400. I may just go for an open box of the UX501VW for $1300.

i got my g501vw for $760 when bestbuy had its sale.

it seemed to be a limited run supply. Also, the thunderbolt port is problematic as hell with hdmi adapters. so many bugs they haven't fixed.

There's also a displayport multimonitor defect that most people don't know about which needs a mobo replacement to fix it. So don't get the VW series.

if i could do it again, i would not be an early adopter.
