I keep bringing out this laptop when my other ones go down. It's been reliable. And I don't only play the emulators like snes, Sega, n64 etc... So it's more than I need, still. Installed windows 10, 4gb, upgrading the processor and graphics card.

Anyway, I wanted to ask you guys if there are other tips on getting this up to MAXIMUM performance capabilities? I hear I can actually do 8gb ram. Though it's expensive, it's more sentimental than anything.

And most importantly, the console 2.0 is kissing on mine.. Anyone have a way to get it back? I called Asus and they said it's too outdated but I am hoping someone found a way around that?

I wiped it and it's running pretty smooth. I bought thermal paste so that when the new graphics card and processor arrive, I start off good. I also bought a cooling pad that's on the way too.

Buy an X9100 extreme CPU for cheap on Ebay. Can run it at 3.3GHZ no problem with Throttlestop and while you are at it, upgrade the fan to the Forcecon fan, it moves more air. The same fan found on the G50vx and G51J.
Yes 8GB of RAM works fine on it.
    Put in an SSD.

With it maxxed out, not quite fast enough for me in some ways. Looking to get a 6-core light laptop in a few months to last another 10 years 4me
