    Hello,

I just bought an Asus ROG G551JM-CN120H, but the WiFi is extremely slow.
I tried downloading google chrome and that took over 5 mins.
Opening this forum page took me a few minutes aswell.
I downloaded the latest Atheros wifi driver from the asus support site. (Yes I got an Atheros wifi chip according to system management)

I was downloading the latest nVidia driver with Geforce Experience and my download speed was between 10-80 kpbs

What can I do to improve this?

Do you know the exact wifi card that is in the computer? You could try getting the driver directly from their site. Atheros may have one that covers all models so that could be one thing to try. You can also connect to ethernet directly to check your speeds to make sure it not a wifi specific issue.

It is a Qualcomm Atheros AR946x.
I downloaded the WLAN_Atheros_Win81_64_VER1000299 from the Asus site.

I just noticed that when I'm downstairs, Wifi works.
Upstairs we have a TP-Link TL-SG1005D and a WiFi repeater.
I get 4/5 bars connection but Wifi is not working/extremely slow. I got an network timeout while loading this page, and loading up speedtest took 10 mins.

There seems to be some kind of problem between the laptop and the WiFi repeater. What could it be?

    Results downstairs:

I finally managed to start the speedtest op wifi upstairs, but the download speed was between 0.02-0.40...
After 20 mins the test had not even finished.

So i plugged in an network cable, and tried again. This was the result.

So I have some kind of problem with WiFi connecting to the acces point upstairs.

EDIT: I unplugged the TL-WA730RE Range extender and after a minute plugged it back in again.
Now i reached decent WiFi speed!

I was pretty sure i unplugged/plugged it yesterday aswell, but probably to short.

Always good to check out the whole network, router included, even if other devices are working :)
