I wonder where Laptop.bg (LaptopMedia) got the information as google doesn't reveal any hits on "GX501". Otherwise, this looks like a trainwreck waiting to happen.
-
I'm pretty sure that with some TDP throttling magic the laptop can hold temps hahadon_svetlio likes this. -
The GX501 was first unveiled in a ROG event in China when they showed off the GX800 to Chinese market

Wow, I guess everyone wants a thin "under-performing" 1080 laptop in their inventory
Time will tell, but Aorus, Razer, and AW have all shown under TDP implementations of 1080's, with the MSI 16L13 / Eurocom F5 Tornado 15.6" 1080 also coming soon with a 150w GPU.
The GX501 is kinda cute, like a mini-GT80 format design

ot: gt80 would've been amazing with the haptic feedback trackpad, just sayingmason2smart and hmscott like this.

Sorry, I just don't get the awesomeness of a haptic trackpad.
It's distracting enough to use a trackpad let alone have it bouncing and jumping my finger tips over the trackpad surface with haptic vibrations.
Haptic feedback works ok as a handheld controller, where there is little chance the vibration will interfere with or interrupt my control movements.
Having the trackpad surface of contact jumping out from under my control just doesn't sound like a good idea.
Now that the GT83VR trackpad is a removeable part, it makes even less sense for it jump about in its cradle.
Of all the great innovations in the GT80, dropping the haptic feedback before production was the best idea

I mean haptic feedback like the apple force touch trackpadhmscott likes this.

I guess it's not a make or break feature for me. I don't like my input devices kicking back at me when I am trying to focus on a task, Anthropomorphizing devices with live feedback isn't helpful for me.
Besides those devices usually use a lot of power relative to not having them, I'd rather save the power and not have them - I turn such feedback off. -
That's true I guess.
Each to their own, but I do like the force touch on macbook.hmscott likes this. -
And, that is nothing like the Haptic feedback Touchpad pulled from the GT80
-
was it different? I'd like to try it even only once. -
You don't even know what it is, and you're saying "gt80 would've been amazing with the haptic feedback trackpad, just saying"
Just saying, you're easily amazed

This looks ridiculous. Either this is a water-cooled system (and even then I'm skeptical), or this will overheat in twenty seconds flat, TDP crippling or not. MSI's GS63VR that has a 1060 has borderline temperatures and is thicker than this. So unless the TDP is down to 80-90W, this thing is DOA.

Unless they apply liquid metal by hand on each one, I doubt they will be able to have any stability even @ lowered TDP
Obviously it will have KabyLake; we have yet to see much about thermals on them. But I doubt they can have an HK in there. -

If they decide to brand this as a "Matrix" product then liquid metal by hand is not entirely out of the question (not very likely though). We can only wait and see but I expect this to either be a Razer Blade Pro 2.0 or have some sort of gimmick to - be it eGPU, water cooling or a water-cooled base to stand on (that would actually be nifty).
