    Hi !

The other day i updated the display driver to 12.1 from 11.10. After the update i played Dead Island for like 3H with no problems, Game run smooth no artifacts etc.

The next day when i started palying after like 5 to 10 minutes i started getting randomfreezes for like 3secs also notecing the audio sometimes got delayed, mostly during dialogs and cutscens. I never get a total lockup wich requires a reboot also the game runs smooth with no graphical errors inbetween the 3sec locks.

I decided to go back to the old driver again but the problem is still there.Tried another game wich run fine but after like 5 mins the audio started to act as above, no graphical freeze though. What ive noticed is the hdd lamp starts doing like a pattern when the errors start, it feels like the whole computer gets out of sync.

Ive updated the realtek drivers, scaned for virus etc but the error is still there. Ive seen some threads about random freezes/lockups but this seem slightly diffrent.

Im no pro at computers but this forum has helped me alot regarding other stuff so hopefully it can help me again - Many Thanks.

Thanks Chastity for the reply !

I tried the new drivers but the same error still shows up. I also noticed that it freezes randomly in Windows enviroment aswell, even if no game is launched. any clues ?

This is driving me nuts so im just gonna reinstall the whole system and hope that sorts it. I´l post again after ive done the reinstall. Cheers !

I've been plagued by this problem as well. I've reinstalled windows a few times (not because of this problem) and the 3 second lock up with sound delay seem to keep popping. I've updated my vbios, and bios to the most current, and I'm on the most current video drivers and the problem still persists.
I'm sure its a driver issue. For a sort time I believed it was due to me having windows on a SSD and them all my games and programs on that slow 5200rpm 640GB stack HHD.
I'll keep you posted if I come across anything. I just wanted to let you know you're not the only one.

Friends have you checked for firmware updates for your hard drive(s) from the manufacturer's web sites?
