Hey Guys, for the past month i've been having some weird problem with my G73JH. When i leave my computer and go do something else, it sometimes shutdowns while i'm gone and it get this message. I can turn the computer back on without a problem but when i get back on IE, my cache is cleared and all my log ins are forgot. This really wierd, this never happens while im using computer, it always when i leave it for a few minutes to do something else that it happens.
Any of you have some ideas?

    Hello,

I have seen the invalid boot error on my G73JH on occassion when my system has BSOD'd - I especially saw it when I first added a second HDD to my system. For some reason the BIOS was getting confused as to which SATA port was the primary port with the primary HDD. In my case the only way to recover was to remove the second drive - at which point the system would boot up correctly - Then I could do a proper shutdown and re-connect the secondary HDD. This may be happening with your system as well if you have a secondary HDD. It may be the sudden shutdown is somehow causing the bios to fail in the POST and report the wrong HDD or loosing the Primary HDD port. You might consider updating your BIOS. I have not seen this error sence updating to the latest 211 beta BIOS.

    In Peace and Agape,
    Trav...

i have the latest bios and my JH came with 2 x 500GB @ 7200rpm HDDs. I bought my computer in april and never had this problem until very recently, so i doubt our problems are related

it is more likely to be a windows issue then a hardware
i would just try everything to fix it and if it still problem persist reinstall OS

maybe you have left a disc in the bluray drive and you've set the bios to read the bluray drive as primary boot.

Go into the BIOS and have it reset to defaults. You may have some corrupted data in CMOS.

this still doesnt explain why the computer shuts down in the first place

@Chastity: Thanks, i'll try that and post feedback in a couple of days

maybe after some time when you leave the computer idle it is starting some program to work in background and that program is making you some conflict giving you blue screen...

bluescreens occur from drivers and hardware. or cats. but not software.

I think you might be right because if i go into the windows admin logs after the crash it says that it was a bluescreen, and no new hardware was added or removed ever since i got the laptop...i'll investigate the matter, i can't isolate the element that makes my computer crash because the logs dont give me te info i need, last activity recorded was an fetch in new data from my weather app...nothing unusual

you know , i had the same error once with my G73.. My fix for it was to insert a windows disk i had and basically load it on start up.. and just mess about a bit but not start a reinstallation and than restart.. it used to fix the issue. Happened once with my Dv6 too... did same thing.

    Panther214

    P.S : I don't see how chasity's fix doesn't work.. might be the issue.

    Also 200th Post!

it seems as if most of my recent hibernation and BSOD are related to Power4Gear, don't know why but as soon as i switched to Windows High Performance scheme most of my recent problems dissapeared, and i've been running it for about a week now so i can pretty much confirm this, when i was on P4G scheme, i had hibernation and BSOD problems (many times a day) after my computer was on idle for an hour or more and for the past week, my laptop hasnt had a single idle problem
