So my tube of ICD7 turned up today. Going to the shop to pick up a magnetic pair of screw drivers. Then it's all go!

Hoping I dont screw it up. Will take it slow and let you know how I go in a few hours.

just take it easy, just be careful with the keyboard and the cable for the speakers, and take your time... let us know how it went.

So my ICD7 turned up after about 5 days waiting. Couldn't wait to open her up. After doing everything I just powered her up to find everything working!

So happy right now. And whats better by temps are now 10-15degres lower on idle. Will do more testing and post here in a bit.

Wasn't to hard getting her apart and doing the job. Pretty straight forward. Watched the BTO video the whole way through.

Just noticed my fan doesnt even seem to be running.. Usually I'd be able to hear it straight after booting up. But now nothing. Awesome!!

    So my temps were.

Idle - 62-68 depending on temp outside.

ICD7 - sitting on 52.5 at the moment. Hopefully it gets better as it cures.

Furmark standard settings pre re-paste - 100-105c ( Would shoot straight up to that temp)

ICD7 - After about 5mins running its currently sitting on 81c but flicking down to 80 not sure if its peeked or not.

Congrats. Those are good numbers even if the paste has cured so you can be sure the paste was applied well.

Thank you. I'm very happy with it. Ran furmark again 1920-1080 xtreme burning mode and my max was 82c after 10minutes. Can't believe it actually worked!

You really have to see it to believe it!

So just finished playing about an hou of NFS Hot Pursuit and my ma temp was only 68! Unreal. This was in the 80's and beyond prior to repasting!

Ok so I just installed the 10.10e modded drivers and my temps seem to be a bit higher than the 10.11 ones. Is that possible, if so what could be causing it?

10.11 seem to be more more a bit more efficient when comes to temps. In my case I'm seeing 2 to 3 Celsius Less than 10.08.

Some posted that 10.11 temps have not changed, it just using a different sensor now instead of the memio.

Im debating repasting mine. I have 2 tubes of Ic7 but my temps are never hotter then 81 in furmark and I never GSODed.

    Is it still worth it?

Absolutely not. Do not repaste untill ur temps rise above 90C I would say. You will save ur IC7, and save you 3 hours of time doing the repaste. You won't get much better results by repasting, there's even a chance ur temps will go up :p.

Ok so I repasted yesterday obviously. But today after plugging in some head phones I notices that only the left side is working?! Even when I plug in speakers to the headphones jack. Only the left side is working, while it seems the right side is deadske!

What could have gone wrong? Something to do the with speaker cable? Because I was so carefull with t and it seems exactly the same putting it in as it did taking it out. Or maybe something to do with the sound card?

Please if anyone has some advice thatd be great. Cheers.

I would check the sound cable first, you should be able to get to it just from removing the keyboard (hopefully you removed the double sided tape).

Checked headphones not the problem. NOW I have another problem *tear.

So I popped off the KB sound cable looks fine. Put KB back on. While the batery was out I thought I'd try start the laptop with just AC power in, not sure why. Any way. Started up then as the windows tune played as the desktop loaded the tune starts skipping and the laptop freezes up! I'm in safemode at the moment and it seems to be working perfect. What could have caused this??

Anyone please? I'm pulling hair out trying to figure out what I've done wrong!

Ok so while in safe mode, since the sound was already playing up to begin with I disable both sound devices. ATI and realtek or whatever they were. And it's started up find. So obviously something sound related has gone bad I'm guessing? Ill uninstall all sound drivers and see what happens.

OK so it was working fine, and then you had this issue? or this happened right after reassembling the laptop? If you are messing with audio and video drivers make sure to use something like DriverSweeper to get rid of all the old ones before installing new drivers.

No it was working fine yesterday. Im 90% sure both left and right were working yesterday cant be 100% sure though. Even with speakers plugged in only left and the sub is working. right just has static coming out of it. Not sure if it was like this after reassembling it.

But the new problem I had 10mins ago was after removing KB to check speaker cable upon putting KB back on and starting up it was freezing at the desktop. Ran safe mode disabled sounds devices. Started fine. Unistalled creative. Going to restart now and see if its working ok.

    Very strange.

Yup so it restarted fine minus the creative software. Not sure if that was the cause or not. Also when I do left/right sound test on the g73 left and right work (hear noise from both). But when I do the same test with something plugged into the jack I only get left side. Possible something has killed its self on the sound card?!

My current idle temps are 55 to 57C, after gaming idle temps become 57C. Max temps is 89C with GRID, but BFBC2 and BO rarely even exceed 80C.

Ambiance temperature is about 26 to 28C.

Is my stock thermal paste fading off now? The idle temps are getting higher and higher after 1 month. When i first get it, it was only 52C, but the weather is getting warmer, though. How much does the ambiance temperature affect the temps?

Cheesenium: As ambient temps rise, so does idle temps. I wouldn't worry about those temps, they're fine.

MrGamer: You could have a loose connection with the audio jack, or dirty contacts. Try blowing it out with some air, and spin the plug around a bit to try and improve contact. If you are getting stereo with the internal speakers, then your speaker connection under the keyboard is fine, and so is your sound chip.
