I am looking at exotic PC and this seems to be a good buy but I have some questions. How is the battery life on this machine if you are only typing in ms word and browsing the web? Can you get 5 hours on it because I am hoping that this computer can last a but when you are not gaming and just being productive. It the computer cool when you are being productive? There is quite a few options on xoticpc where I would buy the computer, but I am not sure which display would be the best option as I am coming from an Asus UX31a with an FHD display being farely bright.

well thanks to Haswell you can do that. Also, all G750's have a bug where when plugged into the battery, they downclock to 800 MHz. to save power no matter what plan you were on even on high performance

What if you takeout the battery and game just plugged in, will the processor still down clock then?

It's basically when you are running on battery only. Running a laptop on battery does not net the same performance when plugged in due to limitations of battery vs AC power. It's a physics issue, not a laptop issue. If they allow hardware to run at the same power output as AC as on battery, the battery won't last long enough to want to feasibly use the battery in the first place.

yes you can use ThrottleStop to force the laptop to operate at max speed on battery

Well not the graphics too, they will clock down on battery since drawing 180-200W from the battery would melt it.

Be careful with the battery if you force the CPU to go full pelt too as that may exceed the maximum draw it was designed for.

I would only game being plugged in, so i would never push the machine in that manner.

Well then it should not be throttling on AC :)
