You must reboot first after successfully installing Realtek 2.56 so that your sound card can be detected afterwards.

Here's the one that came from my Asus Drivers CD: Creative.zip
I don't think the Creative Software on the Asus website is working.
Which one are you pertaining to by "still dont work keeps saying.."? -

See my sig links or go here: G73 Series Driver and Application Reference
Grab the Audigy HD Win7 upgrade and install over your current Creative install. Then go to /Drivers in the Update dir and run FixAMD64.exe. -

I just can't get this to work for my G73-JH... When I first bought the machine I had to uninstall the Creative suite because of the crashing problems, but just recently I've tried to get it back now that I hear it's been fixed.
I downloaded the latest RealTek driver from the company's site ( Vista_Win7_R257_x64), along with the HDMI version, even though I don't use an output. I know the audio driver setup has to be run for uninstallation, system reboot, run again for install, reboot again, then try to install the Creative package...
But I keep getting the infamous " Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system" error message...
Now I've practically scoured these boards for info and from what I understand, if I don't want to use the paid version of X-Fi MB, I have to stick with the default Creative suite that includes the entry-level ALchemy or whatever (I uninstalled all this when I first got my laptop because of all the crashes, so I never really got familiar with any of the third-party audio stuff)...
So I've tried to install several different versions of the Creative Audigy HD MB package (both the one from Creative and the one ripped from the Asus recovery CD and posted in these forums), and I get the "unable to detect" error either way...
I even tried Chastity's " Windows 7 x64 fix for v1.1," which seemed to install some or all of the Creative components, including ALchemy, but when I try to launch ALchemy for example, I get the error message "The audio device required by this application is not detected."
This is while using RealTek driver version 2.5.7 (or 6.0.1.6299 as displayed in the Device Manager), and also after running the "FixAMD64.exe" file in Chastity's update package. (However, since I resorted to trying to run the update package when I didn't have the original 1.0 installed in the first place, I don't even know if the package that's on my PC right now would work anyway; I thought maybe that 64-bit fix for Win7 might somehow help the hardware recognition problem, which is why I resorted to it after not being able to install the actual 1.0 Creative package.)
Right now regular stereo audio works, but the subwoofer doesn't seem to work anymore with this newest driver. That leads me to believe it might have something to do with not being able to detect the hardware...
Any advice, Chastity, or anyone else? I've been pulling my hair out over this for the past couple weeks now.

Did you use AI Recovery Burner to create backup recovery disks on your factory state? If you have those disks, reset your system to factory state and then update your Realtek drivers without uninstalling the Creative Audigy (given you've installed Creative Audigy before you created your backup disks.

Please see the last post in this thread, Also if you open REaltek volume panel - select audio device be sure that Realtek is Chosen.

1) Uninstall all Realtek and Creative.
2) Install the stock Realtek audio drivers from your CD. Reboot.
3) Install Creative app from your Driver CD. Verify it's working.
4) Update Creative with Win7 update package as per instructions, reboot.
5) Run 2.57 installer, which will uninstall old drivers, reboot, and install new ones and reboot again.
6) Install Realtek HDMI 2.55.
7) ???
8) PROFIT!! -
Thanks for the replies; I'll try this out again following those steps, although I think I basically achieved the end result you described above (in a different order), and wound up with ALchemy working under Realtek 2.5.7, but the Creative Audio Center app would crash immediately on launch. I'll try it out though...
Quick little PS for Chastity and anyone else who might be interested; I noticed your thermal paste thread just now... Have you ever tried out the "GPU Observer" Windows Sidebar gadget from the MS Gallery? It's a great little GPU gadget that displays the core temp, load, clock and memory, with some other features like adjustable temperature alarms. There's a few of these in the Windows Sidebar gallery, but this one isn't dependent on any third-party programs running in the background, like RivaTuner (so if you're using the Windows sidebar anyway, you're not wasting additional cycles or memory -- and even on its own, the footprint is pretty small).
I still use GPU-Z and other tools for advanced testing, but this is just a handy way to have that GPU info accessible right on the desktop all the time, without any additional libraries, plug-ins or third-party apps. I know it's off-topic in this thread, but I thought a new post might be overkill. If not, just say the word and I'll edit this post and make a separate thread.
