I'm running the latest Synaptics driver listed for my G73JH (64 bit Win7) from Asus' support site.

It gives me all sorts of issues. Namely, every time I restart my laptop I don't know what to expect. All of the below has happened at one point or another.

1.) Settings remembered, driver loads, everything fine.
2.) Driver loads, settings reset to default.
3.) Driver doesn't load, Enabled set to, "No."
4.) Driver loads, settings remembered but pad responds like it has only basic touch-pad features.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver countless times, tried different combinations of things in the start up menu under MSCONFIG...

But when there are problems the only thing that helps is if I go into the Synaptics options section and reset everything how I like it. Typically then it's fine until I restart and then it's just a crap shoot.

Is there a better driver for me to try maybe? If so, where can I get it and what is the version number. (If possible.)

    Thank you.

Try this one, it's only a week old:

    Synaptics drivers

These drivers were much newer than the outdated ones on Asus' website.

You also need to update the ATK drivers.

I have the latest ATK drivers from the Asus site. Is there anything better out there?

So far the Synaptics driver that Disgustipated posted is working great. Three reboots and all is well. Time will tell though, I hope everything is perfect now.

Just out of curiosity, If I go to this site:
    Drivers | Synaptics

The driver versions is 15.2.7, I thought this was the 'latest driver'

Is the driver mentioned in this thread a 'modded' driver or beta??

Well damn, just rebooted, probably for the fifth time and all setting were rest to their default status.

Frustrating. I have no idea how to stop this from happening.

Turn off UAC and it should save its settings then. Or you can terminate the synaptics touchpad process and reopen it by right-clicking on it and selecting "Run as administrator", changing the settings after that should prevent it from resetting after reboot.

I've had UAC off from day one, I always shut that off.

On canceling the process and rerunning it as administrator, will that remain in effect after a reboot?

The settings are not consistently lost on a reboot, only occasionally.

It was also resetting for me awhile back. Lately, it hasn't happened. Not really sure whats causing it to reset.

Would you mind terribly much telling me what driver you're using for it? Thanks.

    I'm currently using 15.2.16.1

You might want to install 15.2.7 on Synaptics site first, then upgrade to 15.2.16.1. That's what I did and it hasn't reset for a while now.
