I'd like to reinstall windows 7 but I mistakenly uninstalled the AI recovery burner program. Is there any other way to reinstall windows 7? Can I just pirate a copy and use the serial key provided with my laptop?

This is for the G73jh by the way.

What about the recovery partition? Did you format the hard drive? If not, I believe there is a 20GB hidden recovery partition. Mine had one. I restored with it once using F9 at bootup, I think. I made a ghost image of that partition before I wiped and reloaded in case I ever need to throw it back on there and make the computer "factory fresh".

You don't need to pirate windows, there are legal windows 7 downloads you can find with a quick search (or read the threads in the sticky). These will work with the license code on the sticker on bottom of your laptop - just make sure to use the correct edition for the license key.

You could also use a free utility (like grub) to boot off of the hidden partition, if you still have it.

AMEN. Microsoft provides download links (if you dig for them) for a windows .ISO, using THAT with your key is all you need to get windows up and running.

Speaking of that sticker on the bottom of the laptop...how many times can I actually use it to reinstall windows? Is there even a limit?

OEM 2 times, but it's easy to get the phone rep to OK it. Just tell them you are reinstalling on same hardware.

Just looked into the ABR program in the other installation thread..seems like i can just use it, back it up, reinstall windows without a key, then activate ABR...as much as i want to.

saves having to call a phone rep.
