I was wondering if i could format one of my HD, reinstall OS without formating my second HD. I got lots of large files that i wanna keep on my other HD and i dont feel like burning hundred of dvds... Im asking that because i know both of my HDs are divided in 2 partitions and im wondering if it could be an issue...I heard there hidden spot in the HD for Asus drivers, os...

    How should i proceed?

    thanks.

You can install Windows without reformatting a drive.

You certainly don't have to reformat drives (or even partitions) that the OS isn't installed on.

I though reinstalling the OS required reformating the drives to get rid of the old OS.

    Thanks.

Only the volume the OS is installed on. Doesn't even have to format an entire physical drive.

    1) You can merge the 2 partitions on the 2nd HDD into 1 larger partition.
    2) If you delete the 2nd partition on your 1st HDD, you can then expand your system partition to take up the whole hdd.

    3) You only need to reformat the System partition if you want a clean install. No need to do everything.

Will it work if i put all my stuffs on 2nd HDD, reformat the 1st with a clean install.

Where is located the hidden partition with asus stuff, i dont want to delete it. Why the laptop come with 2partitions on each HDDs?

For some unknown reason, Asus made 4 partitions. Why? Lack of foresight mostly. This is 2010, not 1998. :)

Yeah you can move everything you want saved to the 2nd HDD and wipe out the first and start fresh. Just do not delete the first 19G (?) partition. That is your recovery partition.
