When running a game, window out of the game, press ctrl+alt+delete then go into task manager, select the process of the game, right click on it, go to set priority and set to High. You will be prompted to say ok as it says your system could possibly be unstable. Since I notice the system could possibly get unstable I would just restart after being done with the game.
This will greatly reduce stutter/lag from games and it will increase your performance!
If anyone knows a more permanent solution let me know or if there is anything causes the need to set this option.

If I'm not mistaken, this wouldn't make a huge difference if it was the only intense application running, or at least as long as there aren't a ton of background updaters etc.

Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Unfortunately this doesn't apply to eveything but is a thing that can work based on how many process you have, ram speed, Hdd speed and background programs.
My windows 7 ram footprint as an example is just 200mb, therefore it's no use to set process affinity to high as I don't need it.
But I guess it can be useful for someone. -
I have no other backround applications running. Wireless disabled. Intel Proset services disabled. Intel RST disabled. Windows defender disabled. System Restore disabled. Windows search, windows gadget, and Windows Tablet uninstalled. Wlan autoconfig disabled. I even tweaked the services via the settings from blackviper.com. No antivirus. Running on a clean install of Windows 7 for about a week and half. All recent drivers updated.
So minimal processes running in the backround and this still makes a huge difference to reduce stutter/lag and increase performance. -
Would def. not recommend BlackViper, use GBoost instead:
GBoost Home

Blackviper.com has been a top recommended website by publications for over a decade. I have used the tweaked services in the Windows 7 SP1 Service Configuration guide for a while and does a great job disabling unneeded services that run in the backround. Been using that those guides for years.
I have not tried GBoost or the more updated IOBIT Game Booster. There is nothing else using the cpu so it's down to 0% while idle. -
Each his own taste and preference, I will NOT use BlackViper, you risk closing down processes which are needed for whatever game you play...
-
What services are those? I use the Tweaked setting in the Service Configuration guide and I have actually checked the info on each process I have turned off and none are related to gaming.
-
What are HUGE differences? Can you give us a couple FPS screens, or are we just talking initial load and area load stutters?
-
If you're really concerned with this, I would bet just disabling core parking would have more effect than this.
Windows 7 & Core Parking .... a *better* way to Turn It OFF .... -
I noticed it minimized area load stutters too as well as improving the performance of the game. FRAPS could be used to show FPS screens but without a video capture card on the G73JH the FPS on the video would really drop down so it would only look worse.
I always have core parking disabled. So using this fix helps even with core parking disabled. -
The only way I've found to do this permanently is launch the game through a batch file.
Code:start "L4D on high priority" /high "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2.exe"
Will try a few games later with priority on high, see if there is a noticeable difference.
OK, L4D2 didn't stutter during the initial video, but gameplay FPS was identical, 58-60 fps.
Might try GTA4 since that is significantly more intense, but will take a couple days before I have time to reinstall it. -
You can use a program called Process Lasso to set it permanently also.
