Recently I had an issue where I had to return my G73 (Due to dust in the LCD). They couldn't repair it so they gave me a Best Buy giftcard worth $1,289.99. Should I reorder the Asus G73 or wait for the new laptops......mind you I dont want to wait a very long time either

Nah, I wouldn't wait. Just get another one. The "updated" g73jw will have a nvidia card (which might float your boat), but isn't due for another 2-3 months.

Thanks for your opinion. It really helps me make a decison (as I can decide anything for crap!)

Not only that, the Nvidia GTX 480M is incredibly disappointing. The benchmarks for the Clevo D900F and it's about 5% faster than my G73jh in games. Tessellation only 35% faster, not the 5X faster and not fast enough to be actually playable for games.

Also I do not think Asus G73jw will have the 480M, too expensive, and at load the 480M uses 130Watts, so minimum of 240 watt power pack will be needed. I just don't see Asus doing this. So if they use a lower end like 460M, yeah get ready to be dissapointed.

IMO the G73jw will not be impressive for performance, it will be purely a 3D Vision gimmick.

Get the G73jh now, and overclock that machine. See if you can get the thermal grease replaced and you should be good to go.

I'd love to order the G73JH from Bestbuy but I fear it will come with the AU screen! When I went to pick up my former G73 from Bestbuy (they had to order it online for me) it came with the AU screen and I had to refuse it.

So I'd like to make a decision asap. Anybody know what I should do If I get the AU screen since they G73 aren't in stores anymore?

I don't see Best Buy getting a computer better than the G73 this year so that will probably be your best bet. If the screen is that much of a problem, you can buy a replacement LCD and replace the existing one. I believe there's a disassembly guide floating around here somewhere.

I really don't think the AU screen is that bad. And you could always upgrade to an 1080p screen after the warranty is out, and it'd "feel" like you got a new laptop. Or at least an upgraded screen...

Ok well I just ordered it. If it has the AU screen I will either live with it or return it to Bestbuy.

I assume the store is trying to get you a replacement RBBX-05, as it's not available to be ordered online/shipped, or perhaps you went for the discounted RBBX-09 which, for 2GB RAM and one more 500GB hard drive is now only $230 more than the -05. Along those lines, is that now a reasonable difference in price? Also, I can't find the -05 in stores anywhere I've looked, and the -09 was always only available online...

Just to clarify, you ordered it online for instore pickup, right? There's not a store w/ stock in the whole state of Iowa, as far as I can tell...

Edit: Just checked and it's now available for shipping. It never was in the past, that's why I was confused. Well, one of many reasons :)

Reedit: Now two stores in my area w/ stock...

my first one got A PSOD they had to replace it since it happened in less than 15 days but there weren't any laptops in the store so I got a money refund, I wanted to buy a Dell but the price is way too high for the same configuration even a Clevo is too expensive here in Europe, so at the end I waited 2 weeks for it to get back in store, having it for over a month and it's working fine :p
