    Hey guys,

I bricked my GTX 460M and I need a replacement. I'm taking this opportunity to upgrade my GPU IF possible otherwise I will just have to get the same one. I have an asus G73SW notebook. I've seen a few gtx 560's on ebay pulled out from a g55 with the same board layout as my card. Does that mean it will work? Please let me know what my options are here.

    Thanks!

Hi. you can upgrade to 680m :) but it is not straight forward. You need gpu heatsink from g73jh series. Then heatsink has to be modified little to fitt over gpu board.
And special vbios to get 680m working. Here is my score on same machine as yours :)

PS. I see you bricked your 460m. Then cheapest way is to desolder vbios chip and reprogram it. If you dont have courage to do it self find someone near you that has tools and pay him.

The switch to a Asus 560M is pretty straight forward in a G73SW. I've had one running in mine for a while now and not had any problems. Click the link in my sig and I've shown how it can be done and what is needed. If you have any questions let me know.

How significant is upgrade to 560m? I mean asus 560m is 300usd which is 100 bucks more from same card but With standard mxm form.

    Its just higher clocked.

Using a standard MXM board will require mods IIRC.
