Hi, I have the G73jh with the 1600x900 resolution, but I am wondering if anyone here has replaced theirs with the 1920x1080. I talked to a computer tech near by and he said it is possible but he has never done it before and some notebooks just cant do it. I know that the graphics card wont have a proble pushing the higher res (5870m) but is there anything else I should look out for before purchasing the new screen?

Hmm, the only thing I worried about is that I am going from a WXGA screen to a WUXGA and I believe that the new 1080 screen might have a 40pin connector vs the standard 30 pin for WXGA. Do any of you guys know if this is a factor?

I JUST finished changing my AUO 1600x900 (bestbuy model) to an AUO 1920x1080. The screen quality is like night and day! It was rather easy to change out, but I am pretty sure I did it the hard way. Nice thing was, the connector was on the correct side, so I didn't have to re-route the cable any (someone upgraded their 1600x900 LG to a 1920x1080 LG screen and ended up having to re-route the video cable.

I am amazed by the viewing angles on this display. The BB AUO's 1600x900 was crap, move your head a tiny bit and the display would look bad. The B173HW01 V.0 is a pretty nice display from what I have seen so far. Its atleast on par for my MBP's display (late 2007 15-inch w/ matte screen)

Do you have any screen bleeding? I love my AUO, aside from the bleeding...

    I just ordered the B173HW01 V.0 from ScreenCountry. http://www.screencountry.com/index.php?section=products&part_number=B173HW01 V.0

This is the 2nd screen I bought from the over the year. Price is good and the pack extra good. I emailed them yesterday to ask if it will be the EXACT model and they said yes so its a deal. I hope Alaric means the AUO 1600x900 with the bleeding? I have Hannstar now and it is bleeding on all for sides. I put a pic in another thread. I already had this AUO model in a G73jh-B1 and was impressed with it. Hope the wires will line up and will be a smooth swap.

Will upgrading the screen void the warranty?

Well, if you send it in for an RMA with a different panel model than the original, and it wasn't done by an authorized service agent, they can use that as proof of tampering and void your warranty.

But realistically, it shouldn't be an issue unless you break something.
