Hi I am in a dilemma on whether I should go for SCAR II as there have not been a lot of videos talking about the Temperatures are for the laptop.

How good or bad the laptop is at Cooling.

Any owner who has purchased the laptop, requesting you to provide feedback on it.

    Thanks and Regards,
    DiningPhilopher.

Temps are in this review for specific games. I'll paste them here:

As a FPS-oriented gaming laptop, it would be ridiculous if it didn’t give a respectable frame rate here. 163 fps is definitely a good number, but the the thermals aren’t so hot, figuratively speaking. They are a bit too high for comfort, but we didn’t detect any slowdowns here in CS:GO. I also noticed that I am doing better now in CS:GO than I do on my own desktop, probably due to the more responsive display.

130 fps is really good, but once again, the temperatures are very worrying.

We get 79 fps maxed out, but to take advantage of the 144 Hz, you can definitely drop the graphic settings a tad to hit a higher frame rate. The temperatures recorded in PUBG are just as high, but we didn’t encounter any ill effects from the insanely high temperatures. There was no sign of throttling like stutter or sudden dips in frame rate though.

We get a great showing in Rainbow Six Siege too, but the CPU and GPU are a bit too hot for comfort.

For those of you who aren’t into FPS, the ROG Strix SCAR II GL504GS can deliver a great MOBA experience too. However the ROG Strix SCAR II GL504GS isn’t even trying here, as apparent by the rather low temperatures as compared to the other games.

Far Cry 5 pushes temperatures even further, casting doubt upon the new cooling system’s capability to handle the increased heat from the i7 8750H and its extra cores. Although the temperatures the hardware hit are really unappealing, the ROG Strix SCAR II GL504GS did not throttle and delivered great performance across the board. We would surely prefer lower temps for better longevity of all involved hardware here though.

Most of what I have seen is consistent with the review, high temps but no effect on performance. Those 90s are pretty concerning to me personally, I like my temps in the 80s at the most.

please tell me those are peak temps and not average . . . . review says no throttling, but the i9 starts to thermal throttle at 94, hard to imagine this machine is not throttling. . . . what cpu speed was it holding during gaming?

With undnervolt + repaste it will fix the temps, but.... is this 8750H actually running at full 3.9ghz? That would be a very huge deal here.

After more reviews, jep, the 8750H runs at full speed, I am absolutely baffled by this.

I'm thinking of buying this model would you recommend it with purchasing it with thermal paste upgrade done to it? I'm trying to buy something this week I got a 2600 budget and this one has my attention

I mean you can always return it, but yeah. I would try it, since it does seem like it has a full speed 8750H which no other thin and light offers. Undervolt it and repaste it with high quality thermal compound. If you need help throw me a private message, I would love doing some optimization on that model and see its full speed, since this is a notebook I would love to recommend if it indeed is as decent as the reviews make it out to be.

Thanks I'm planning on ordering this from HID with the thermal upgrades already done and undervolting etc. So hopefully it will be good to go. I honestly hope I'm making the right choice with this model. My budget is 2600 and for the specs I can't find anything better i7,500gb,2tb sshd,32gb of ram,144hz ips 1070 gpu.

I don't think HID offers returns so I think I'm stuck with this unit regardless so I'm carefully trying to decide

Maybe ask donald etc. for a thermal test?
Because if this notebook does indeed run the 8750H at full speed, it would be the only thin and light in existance that does it.

i have the asus hero ii. stress tests are 3.94ghz on my 8750h with 70-91c temps. usually 88-91 on full cpu load. i dont know much about undervolting..i tried -.100 cpu core/cache and i get a BSOD during a stress test. -.50 works but whats the point in that lol. Any ideas for me to try?

Can you upload a picture of a P95 stresstest while having HWinfo64 open for roughly 10-15minutes?

What were your fan profile settings when doing these tests? Also, what is your ambient temp? Thanks.

Do you have discord and teamviewer? I'd like to take a look at your system and see what you can make of it, so far TDP of 55W seems very good for a thin and light, quite suprising to say the least.

hey guys. ill be off the next few days. ill check back in on monday.

@sush33king i believe it was Balanced. But when it runs up that hot the fans go max. It was pretty loud. Not as loud as my laptop from 4 years ago though. 70f is what our AC is set to. so maybe 70-75f? i also wasn't on maxed performance mode. I was in the middle one while plugged in.

@Danishblunt i have discord. whats your add code? mine is *** Jake | Tektonic#2254 ****

I just purchased a Zephyrus S --8750h and when running Prime 95 then temps never exceed 80c, this is with each core running at 3.9GHz...... In Firestrike they never broke 74c. It also idles around 30c

How's this going? I'm considering buying but the high temps are really putting me off, and I'm interested in what they get to with a repaste and/or undervolt

    Stock temps - GPU = 72C / CPU = 95C
With our Grizzly Conductonaut + Fujipoly Extreme Thermal Pads upgrade - GPU 70C / CPU = 75C

Here is another new review for you:

How does this compare to the temps of the Zephyrus M with the same Grizzly Conductonaut + Fujipoly Extreme Thermal Pads upgrade?

With the Grizzly Conductonaut + Fujipoly Extreme Thermal Pads upgrade:
    -110mV Undervolt - ASUS ROG Strix Scar II GL504GS-DS74 - GPU = 70C / CPU = 75C
    -60mV - ASUS ROG Zephyrus M GM501GS-XS74 - GPU = 75C / CPU = 82C
