So my G73jh arrived last night and i am very impressed, Im just a little confused about the turbo mode...

    1) The "twin turbo hybrid" button in the top left, what exactly does it do and when do i use it?

    2) In power to go there is a button that just says "turbo - on/off", is that different to the twin turbo?

    3) Is it wise to leave these on, and if not why not?

    4) If these are off, and the CPU is getting stressed, with it automatically clock itself to perform better?

    5) i have read a little bit about GPU clocking, but cant find much more than that. Can somebody please elabortate on this?

    1) The Twin Turbo Hybrid button can be used to give your CPU a slight overclock on demand.

    2) The 'Turbo' feature in the BIOS is what the Twin Turbo Hybrid button toggles.
Changing this in the BIOS from 'Off to 'On' applies the overclock when you boot the machine.

    3) It's your choice, personally i don't use the button.

    4) If Intel Turbo Boost is enabled, then yes. However ITB does not overclock the entire CPU only one of the cores that is currently stressed.

    5) The Twin Turbo Hybrid button does not overclock the GPU.
If you want to overclock the GPU you will have to do that with a program called 'AMD GPU Clock Tool'.

I leave it off due to some testing..... it appears that it actually decreases cpu performance (raises clocks but lowers a multiplier.) The amount of difference you will see though is pretty much nonexistent unless you are encoding video and such or benchmarking cpu

At this point it's pretty much of a gimmick. It does indeed increase the clock of the CPU, however due to the way ITB functions, the CPU multiplier will go down to 12 instead of 13 when the CPU is under full load due to the higher clock since ITB won't kick in. Basically that means that you will actually see a small decrease in performance under full load on all four cores (while benchmarking and encoding video for example).

Until there's a way to lock the CPU multipliers with the 720qm, the turbo button is pretty much useless.

Just do a search for twin turbo in the forums and you'll find the relevant info explained in much more details by people like kalim and madrake in the G73 benchmark thread.
