I am getting green lines on my lcd screen which iam told are due to connection problems with the lcd (they are not visible on external displays). Now I want to reseat the lcd cable but i dont want to open the whole laptop. I just want to remove the back cover over the hinges and adjust the cable because the artifacts go away when I change the angle of the screen.

I want to know how to remove the back cover?

When you adjust the screen position it is just pulling the cable in and out of the socket. Sadly to get to the socket you will need to disassemble. If you are within warranty and dont want to do it send it in for RMA.

I watched a disassembly video and it showed that the back cover can be removed by just removing the screws under the battery. I tried it but didnt pull the cover too hard as i was afraid i might break it. Any idea if i need to dissassemble the whole thing or if i can just pull the cover off?
Iam under warranty but not in the usa so claiming the warranty is a big issue..

You will be able to get to the cable but as mentioned you wont be able to get to the socket and that is where it is going to be loose I doubt you will be able to push the wire to fix it unless it is catching on something you might be able to free up some slack. If that does not work you will need to get inside.

I was using this video as a guide:
    BTOtech.com | G53Jw & G53Sw Disassembly Take Apart G53 g53j service manual - YouTube

But in this video almost the whole laptop has been dismantled while I only want to know which components need to be opened to get to the lcd cable.

I understand that the keyboard and palmrest have to come off but do I also need to remove the back panel and lcd screen? Iam not at all comfortable doing this so I want to remove as few components as possbile.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Sorry chap but I explained to you above what you need to do removing the back panel only allows you access to the wire itself not to the connector in the screen or the connector into the mobo so you do need to disassemble to get to the problem which is that the socket is not connected properly into the motherboard.

Thanks for the reply, I already removed the back cover and as u said it didnt help.

What iam asking now is if I need to disassemble everything as shown in the video including the lcd screen and the bottom cover.

Or can I reach the connector just by removing the keyboard and palm rest?
    Thanks

Disassemble down until you reach the top of the motherboard or to the point in which you can see the 1st RAM slot. Sadly it does require the majority of the disassembly but you dont need to remove the screen.

In the BTOTech movie you need to go to 8 minutes on the dot and that is where you will have full access to the all the monitor cables.
