Is anyone else playing RIFT at the moment on the JH? Just wondered what your best setup is as the graphics settings are overly customisable and I notice that I cant really push above high at 1600x900 with full shadows and 2AF 2AA otherwise I drop below 30 frames.
Have to say though its a fantastic game and for anyone looking to get out of WoW move over. It took me an hour and Im engrossed by it and even though the basic interface is a bit like WoW the game itself is nothing like it.
Graphically outstanding
Fun and action packed
Mostly Adult and mature players
Random Rifts open and your thrown into battle
New and interesting classes
It literally has everything that WoW has and they have given it everything that WoW hasn't got. You can casually jump into RIFT wereas you would be stuck for life in WoW.
After the Dragon Age 2 failure I decided until Witcher 2 and Elder Scrolls this is my only hope and im glad I tried it out.

As for your laptop, it should do very, very well in Rift.

What drivers are you running? -
Im using the latest Vbios and Bios 211 along with CCC 11.2.
On high im getting between 30-45 depending on if a RIFT is opened nearby and on Ultra I was getting 27-35fps but I notice your overclocking as well im running stock clocks 700/1000 so my FPS are probably about right.
Its a very good game and if only I had more time I would keep playing it but im going to use up the 30 days and then give it away because I know I will get lost in it like I did with WoW and my life will endIts a very smart game though and the scenary is awesome.

Im running rift on my crappy G50v
lol with my new processor I am running ultra settings, shadows off 25 FPS. I have a terrible graphics card, otherwise I'd be running much higher. I love this game, but I can't stand the pvp aspect, IDK why I chose a pvp server, because I am dumb.

I'm just curious how this game handles on other people's laptops.
For me on high settings it fluctuates between 30-50 fps, dipping into the 10's when there's a lot of people on the screen. Not sure if lowering the settings will help all that much. -
Bump.
I am playing rift now getting around 30-40 fps with all settings set bout half way and on 1920x1080. I was getting 25-30 then I upgraded CCC to 11.4 and cleaned out my registry. For some reason this game doesn't seem to play well with an over clocked 5870. I would OC to 800/1100 and would get a black screen and a kick to the desktop with it telling me that my video driver has be reset. Anyone else having problems OC on rift or is it just me?
Edit: Oh yeah I have a Asus G73-JH i7 740Q, 8GB DDR3, Ati 5870, 1TB Hard drive -
Could be the game / driver combo. I can OC to 815/1100 stable running games. Furmark allows for higher clocks.
-
I was thinking that it was do to rift being buggy given that it only came out less than a month ago. I will test my other games with the OC. Anyone have the average fps of dragon age 2
-
I also play rift how do I tell what my FPS are when playing?
-
You should get FRAPS show fps, record video game movies, screen capture software to check FPS.
I don't play the game but to the guy who was having FPS issues with lots of players on the screen see if you can find a setting to lower player character details. WoW has this and it helps a lot in crowded cities. -
At the bottom left under the chat box in the mix of all the icons there is a icon that will tell you your latency and fps I also us FRAPS I recommend it high.
