I found this portable program on another thread that makes the CPU and GPU fans both run at full speed. However I cant seem to reverse it even if I undo the changes I made while my laptop is still running. My only option to get it to slow down again it is to shut down which is kinda of a hassle.

the program is called RW - Read & Write Utility.

Is it safe to use this program? Will it drastically shorten my fan's lifespan?

    Simply turn off your laptop

    Unplug the ac adoptor

    Remove the battery

And keep it for 10 mins

Now turn back ur laptop and it's back to normal again

yeah, making the fans spin back to their default settings would be fixed just by shutting it down. no need to remove ac and battery.

What I'm asking is that is there anyone with some know how on how to edit the RW-Utility program to turn the fans back to their default setting?

    And

How would it affect that fans lifespan if run at constant full speed?

Do you run your car, motorbike, AirCon, blender, shaver, hairdryer etc. on full speed 24/7?

    What happens if you do?

I tried the RW for just 10 min. and had to do a system restore to get everything back to normal again..

There is known way to undo the RW fix for the fans.
    Other than rebooting..
Why is rebboting such a hassle? It is like 1 mouse click to reboot....

Also running a Fan at full speed is nothing like running a Cars motor at full speed...
A fan uses Magnets, copper wire and elctricy to make thing function..
A cars motor has tons of moving parts that needs cooling do to friction and oil as well....

You can run fans at full speed without worring to much about damage...

I have been running mine for 10 months at full speed 9 hours to 13 each day...

My question is why do you need to?

Cuz I want to max it out when i reach around 80C and get the fans speed back to normal when it reaches around 50C.. Rebooting is such a hassle when your doing something like a project, when all you want to do is just control the heat.

Chastity, I'm averaging around at around 75-80C even just by running Mozilla. Some of the heat is getting to my keyboard and just by typing it can get really annoying. If I run fan speed at 100%, temps drop significantly and stays at 45-55C.

actually I did that last weekend chast, i blew out all the dust in my grills and gave the fans a proper cotton bud cleaning. . . but the heat is still getting to the keyboard.

and im using g53jw and i think 211 is the only bios update. am i correct?

    Without changing the engine oil?

Not sure if sager/clevo laptops still have this, but you used to be able to force max fan with the push of a button and they've never had any issues. Putting the laptop in hibernate resets the fans to normal.

Yep they still have that function.
However if you go for full fans at those temps prolly vents and CPU/gpu needs cleaning and repaste.
My g53sw is new but it survived 2 hours of BFBC2 oced with benchmarks clocks (in sig). It was a kind of stress testing. The higher I went was 80c on both CPU and gpu, stable around 70-72.

My G73 has been around for 12 months and i've nver had temps above 85C when playing games. What you need to do is to get some good paste and repaste your CPU+ GPU. I wouldn't run fans on full speed... Increases wear on them and risk of failure. You better stop... I suggest if your too lazy to repaste to get a nice big cooling pad.

I noticed that the laptop already forces full fan speed for the gpu fan not sure about the cpu fan though while gaming and during furmark.

So how this normally works is the gpu would heat up to a certain point and then the max fan would kick in and would keep the temp the same or decrease it. This app would really only keep the temperature from ever hitting the normal fan threshold. Odds are a normally the laptop wouldn't hit that threshold and would just run a little warmer, so this can be handy in some ways.

You prolly need to open the bottom, and use compressed air and an extension to give it a proper cleaning.

I have a G53jw. The thing is that my idle CPU and GPU temps are max. 50C and 49-52C. After playing Mafia 2 at maximum setting for around 4 hours continuous, my CPU and GPU temps touch max. 82C and 84C. GPU temp has never crossed 84C ever. I have not repasted or overclocked my GPU or CPU.
Are the temps okay or is a repaste necessary? It is very hot here in India compared to America. I'm planning on getting an NZXT Cryo LX and I've also ordered ICD7 from the US of A.

Those are fine temps considering your location.

i find it really really normal running the fans on max speed (as i am doing now on my g53jw) just like my house fan it is running 24\7 without any problem XD

my gtx460m (overclocked to 814-1600-1628) is idling @ 38c with the max running at full which is awesome ! i used to idle @ 50c~52c ....

I already did that. Fans are already clean. Did that like last last week.

TomJG90, its not that I am lazy to repaste, I actually want to do that. Getting stuff like ICD7 in the Philippines is hard. No one sells thermal pastes here where I live.Ordering online and Shipping takes forever.
