    Hey guys,

I wondered if it's possible to run the G73JH without its battery connected, only based on its power adapter connected to ac.
I tried to remove the battery, but it didn't turn on without it.

    Help?

It works fine with just the power cord, no battery. Make sure your cord is plugged in.

I use it without the battery in if it's already at full charge and i plan to game or use it for more than 3 hours. Been doing that for a year and never encountered any problem.

I think I remember there being some sequence issue with this a looong time ago. Someone in the forums here posted about it. It was something like: if you pull the battery while the unit is not plugged into the ac adapter and then try to plug in and turn on it won't work. If you are plugged into ac and take the battery out it works fine. Something like that. I could be crazy, but I think I remember someone having that problem.

My battery is always in my laptop so I don't really know for sure.

Go for it, no harm done. I used mine for 2 months before I moved from providence that way. It was merely a desktop - now it's a PORTABLE DESKTOP w/ built-in UPS!

I can power mine even with the battery removed so if you can't there is something wrong.

Just tried this method, but nothing. When I pull out the battery the battery led goes off.
Actually, when you're connected to AC w/out battery, what's on the battery led display?

    I haven't seen any problems.

    FYI:
I had read something interesting about the ability to lift up the G73 by its own battery. IDK, if it was on NBR. Sry.
Imo it's a nice feature. If it even was meant to be by the designers.

You can click in the battery vertically. It can also be locked. You get a nice angle and the notebook more fresh air.
    Try it out.

Is it safe to d/c the battery when the laptop is on connected to AC?
I'm just afraid to do anything wrong to this machine..

If so, wouldn't there be a big exclamation mark on the backside? :)

Bios update maybe is needed? Otherwise I say its a defective unit. I got a JH and run the... wait hold on...... yep runs fine without the batter.

Maybe your AC adapter is failing.

As mentioned in the last post, the problem was a bios update. Now it all works.
