i have ut tested it on my G73JH and it works fine
adjustable and better than stock realtek drivers
all the instructions are in the rar file

all credits go to Moonshitenite which is a spanish fellow
if you want to find his original thread google it

i recommend disabling your antivirus when installing activation because the files are modded and some antiviruses may report virus but it is clean

use the older drivers provided in the zip if it wont work with the newer ones

did you disabled driver signature enforcement and did you changed the ini file with your hardware id like in the instructions before installing
everything working fine on my end

Great work! The newer Realtek driver package contained does not work, the older one does. I'm on Windows 10 x64, GA-170-D3H. Also the instructions say to leave driver enforcement disabled even after install is that correct?

i am glad you made it working
driver enforcement is disabled only until the next restart i think
you need it only to install the driver
so do you like it ?

for some reason with the new drivers the x-fi 5 doesnt recognise them
so yeah use the older drivers in the folder
    works 100%

I just cannot get it to work. The driver installs fine, as does XX-Fi MB. But it never recognices the sound device. Tried it on both a MGI GT72 and a Asus GL502VS.

try the older driver provided in the zip file
the driver is installed fine only if it gives you the screen that this driver is not digitally signed by microsoft ...
if it doesnt give you that screen then you havent disabled driver signature enforcement

I have disabled the signature enforcement. I even named the Sound device differently in the .inf so I can be 100% sure that the driver installed correctly.

Is it maybe related to the activation process? I am kinda confused and the different steps seem to basically do the same thing (first the unpack a bunch of files, next step modifies them, next step deletes them and replaces them again, last step uses the same as second step)...

I do not get any activation error. I also do not use any antivirus software and have permanently disabled Windows Defender.

    - Driver installs fine, shows up with the name I used in the inf int he device manager.
    - X-Fi MB installs fine
    - I run through all 5 activation steps and reboot
-> X-Fi MB does not find any compatible audio device.

Yes of course, otherwise it wouldn't show up with the name I chose in the device manager.

I happen to get the X-FI MB5 software AND the modded Realtek audio drivers (even new ones like v8036 R2.81) to work on just about ANY Realtek HD audio hardware, including an old Intel motherboard containing the old Realtek ALC861 hd audio chip.

The problem is with the mbapo232.dll & mbapo264.dll files. Newer drivers contain newer versions of these key APO files that have Realtek audio chip ID restrictions on them - hence fewer Realtek audio chipsets supported (and only the ones supported & listed in the HDXMB3H.inf & HDXMB3HD.inf files). moonshinenite wasn't aware of this but I was.

Search for drivers like v7738, v7746 or v7747 and retrieve older versions of the mbapo232.dll and mbapo264.dll files and use those versions in the new audio drivers, overwriting the existing ones in the new drivers [store them in either the Vista64 or WIN64 folder before running driver setup]. The version of these files you really need have to be no greater than version 1.2.16.101 (you can also use older versions of these Creative APO DLL files like v1.2.16.100 & v1.2.16.98, etc).

So before installing any modded Realtek audio drivers replace those two mbapo2 DLL files with either v1.2.16.100 or v1.2.16.101, then run the Realtek audio setup program to install the drivers. Version 1.2.16.102 & higher of the mbapo232.dll & mbapo264.dll files have enforced realtek audio chip ID restrictions.

If the X-FI MB5 software still doesn't find or support your Realtek audio device, uninstall both the Realtek audio drivers AND X-FI MB5 software, reboot and modify/edit the HDXRT.INF file to include your Realtek hardware device ID on there, save changes and re-install both the audio drivers and the x-fi mb5 software.

    realtek-xfimb5-v8036-mod1.png

my screenshot of using X-FI MB5 software version 1.00.19 with a modded Realtek HD Audio R2.81 (v8036) driver with using older mbapo264.dll file (v1.2.16.101) on an old Intel motherboard with Win7 SP1 x64 ultimate edition. Original (un-modded) 8036 realtek audio drivers had mbapo232.dll & mbapo264.dll files v1.2.16.131 but I replace them with an older version before I installed the audio drivers and X-FI software.

I can't find older versions of mbapo232.dll & mbapo264.dll files to be downloaded. Would You post a link of them or of a complete driver which does contain them? Thank You so much ;)

well this guy came along and made special X-FI MB5 drivers for Win7, Win8.1 & Win10 that will work on any onboard audio chip, not just the Realtek ones:

    https://dldolby.blogspot.com/2017/12/from-creative-sound-blaster-x-fi-mb5.html
by the way, version 1.2.16.101 of the creative integration DLL files (mbapo232.dll & mbapo264.dll) are found in the v6.0.1.7751 Realtek audio driver from MS Update Catalog (this is a Win10 only driver - can't be used under Win7)

versions 1.2.16.102 and higher of those two MBAPO2 DLL files broke X-FI MB5 support with my old Realtek ALC861 and ALC887 audio chips on my PCs and caused the X-FI MB5 program to no longer recognize these Realtek chips as "supported" (meaning certain old Realtek chips got "locked out"), even with the already generated KGA activation files for the program. But v1.2.16.102 & greater of the Creative DLL files should continue X-FI MB5 support for most ALC892/899/900/1150 chips, the ALC25x chips on Dell Alienware 13 R2 laptop & ALC269 chips on certain Clevo/Sager laptops. X-Fi MB5 support for Realtek ALC1220 (this is a relatively new realtek audio chip) was added in v1.2.16.118 of the MBAPO2 dll files starting with the v6.0.1.7922 driver and first supported these hardware IDs for ALC1220 (listed in the HDXMB3H.inf file):

    Code:
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_1220&SUBSYS_1458A0B6
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_1220&SUBSYS_1458A0B8

if you wanna continue x-fi mb5 support on older realtek audio chips (like what I had) or alc269 chips on other laptops beside Clevo, use a realtek driver version between 7503 (R2.77) and 7751.

a new follow up - it turns out I was only "half" right. I got my realtek audio chip working with the x-fi mb5 program with the newest modded drivers that include newer versions of the mbapo232.dll and mbapo264.dll files.

the real problem was having way too many license files (with file extension "kga") stored in that \ProgramData\Creative\SoftwareLock\ folder. I got rid of many of them, reloaded the MB5 software and it suddenly recognized my realtek audio device. Seems like newer versions of the mbapo232.dll and mbapo264.dll files in the newer realtek drivers don't like having to process or check all those kga license files and that's why the MB5 program failed to support my realtek chip.

So yes, the MB5 software can work with any onboard realtek audio chip of any model (whether desktop or laptop) with the newer [and properly modded] drivers - just need to have only one kga license file present in that SoftwareLock folder. For the realtek chips I use, it seems to be just the ctlxs2q3x2.kga file. note that you can not use someone else's kga license file(s) made from another PC and you have to get or generate your own that works specifically on your machine.

let me know if the MB5 software works with different license file if MB5 is used in another region.

i can't get X-FI MB3 to work on Windows 10 Fall 1709 update. Device not supported, even though it worked before the update on ALC1150 and without modding drivers whatnot.

however with modded realtek drivers 6.0.1.7747, X-FI MB5 worked for ALC1150. but i feel that MB3 SBX and virtual surround sounded better =/ i would like to get it working again, but i've tried so many drivers combinations and nothing worked. so maybe update 1709 buggered it.

anyway, just wondering if an actual Creative soundcard would be easier, if you want EAX / DirectSound3D support, virtual surround like CMSS-3D for headphones, or just use Razer Surround if you don't care about EAX/DirectSound.
