So this week I purchased a OCZ vertex 2 120gb. And while Im loving fast boot and shutdown's I've been running some benchamarks and I'm a little confused.

Initially I ran as SSD benchmark, and recieved an overall score of 380. I then applied a tweak to my system which then got me an overall score of 407. But I just ran the test twice just then and I'm only scoring 330-340 overall now?

What could be causing this? I just used drivermax to update intel drivers, not sure if that'll be the cause of it though?

    Any thoughts?

Hi MrGamer. Aye it looks like your drive is slowing down a bit. This could be because all the NAND has been written to at least ones. If that happens the Sandforce drives will slow down a wee bit. Trim doesn't seem to work on these drives like it does on a say an Intel drive or Indilinx drive. On a Sandforce drive Trim does work but it works what they call very "Lazy". And it only works if you are using the Intel RST driver. Current version is 9.6.0.1014. Found here:
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18859&keyword="rst"&lang=eng#help

So make sure you are using that RST driver.

The only way to cure the 'Hammered state' your drive is in and to bring it back to 'factory state' is to make an image of the drive, either with Windows 7 build in Back-up utility or with Acronis or whatever program you prefer/use. Than 'secure erase' your drive. This 'secure erase' will put your drive back to factory state. It's NOT like formatting the drive. Nothing gets written or overwritten during a secure erase. Secure erase just kinda spikes all the NAND memory, empties all the NAND and therefore happens in or only takes about 2 seconds.
After the secure erase you put your image back and Bob's your uncle. You are back to a factory state drive with all free NAND clean.
Remember to check if the drive is properly 'Aligned' after you have put back the image but if you use the Windows Backup utility then you should be fine. 'It' does take care of that. Also remember that all these Benchmarks fill up the drive or use up your nice and clean/free NAND at a rather scary rate. So ones you are sure your drive is performing like it should just leave it be. Stop benching and just enjoy your nice fast drive.
If you need more help you will tons of info on the OCZ forum found here:
Sandforce - Vertex2/LE/Pro, Agility2, Vertex2/Agility2 EX Drives, REVO and HSDL drives

Or just let me know. I had quite a job getting my Agility 2 drive to secure erase but I have done it two times now and although it's a bit of a pain and takes a lot of time, it's worth it.
After a secure erase my AS SSD Bench looks like this. With JJB's tweaks applied. Found here:

Hope this helps you somewhat. Good luck.

SO it seems my write speeds have dropped dramatically. Is that because of what you are saying? Or could it be something else?
