I am looking for opinions on which SSD I should go with for my G53SW-XN1. I'm wanting to run my OS [WIN7 64], AntiVirus and perhaps a few games off of the SSD; everything else I can put on the 7200rpm drive that came with the laptop. If neither of these drives are my best option please let me know.

Intel- Newegg.com - Intel 510 Series (Elm Crest) SSDSC2MH120A2K5 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
    or
Crucial- Newegg.com - Crucial RealSSD C300 CTFDDAC128MAG-1G1 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pretty much the same drive from what I can tell but intel is slightly more expensive.

    Thanks-

I went and bought the Crucial C300 SSD here because it was like a $100 cheaper and it is running extremely fast, without any freezing. ( I upgraded firmware and did registry fix )

I cant compare the C300 with the Intel, I am just reporting that the C300 works fine on the G53SW...

The intel has 400MB/s read speeds for 120GB model and the Crucial has a 355MB/s read speed... so technically the Intel is faster than the Crucial, its just up to you if you want to spend that extra $40 for that improvement... one thing to add though is that you can go with a Seagate momentous XT which almost has the speed of an SSD while still having the space of an original HDD. In addition to that is it is also ALOT cheaper than the two SSDs that you had put up.

Newegg.com - Seagate Momentus XT ST95005620AS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s with NCQ Solid State Hybrid Drive -Bare Drive

This is a Video comparing the speeds of a traditional 7200RPM HDD, the latest SSD (At the time of making the VID), and the Seagate Momentous XT.

YouTube - ‪Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid Drive Speed Test (NCIX TechTips #73)‬‏

(P.S. Please do watch the whole clip and listen to what he has to say, he will explain the graph that he has put up for ya =) )

By the way how are you going to transfer all the data from the original HDD to the new hard drive, i am trying to figure out how i can "Clone" my first HDD so that i can put it on my Seagate whenever it does come in. Is it a matter of highlighting the original HDD, draging it to another place such as an external HDD and then installing the new Seagate and just reversing the process from the external HDD? because i dont want to have to buy another windows 7 and installing it on the new drive. Or is it a little more complicated than that (Which i wont be surprised at >.>)

Since the G53SW is mostly likely to support SATA3, you can also look into Vertex 3, if you want the best of the best. But of course, you'll also have to pay for that kind of performance.

Thanks for the input, it really is like being in a candy store when it comes to purchasing an SSD, so many decisions. I like the idea of a Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid, but not necessarily as my primary boot drive. I am thinking I will get the Crucial SSD for my primary OS/Anti-virus drive and replace my slower 7200 drive with the Momentus XT Hybrid for my secondary storage drive. The hybrid drive is very impressive to me, especially in the fact that it learns what files it will need to open with its smaller amount of SSD memory.
That combination should really be awesome, but please tell me what you think.

    Thanks

The Momentous XT will only be useful to you if you make it a primary HDD, your better off with a normal HDD for a secondary because all the Momentous does is use its 4gb SSD as a Cache so that it can remember and speed up boots on the most popular things you use in your laptop.

So you don't think there is any benefit to running programs & storage from a Momentus XT Hybrid drive that does not have my OS on it? It seems like it would still work well for the programs that I use frequently but are not on my SSD (primary drive).
