That will be because of your pagefile which will be using HDD space. Also System restore can use up some space.

Right click my computer - Properties - Advanced System Settings - Performance - Advanced - Virtual Memory

It will say how large your page file is. Total Paging file size for all drives.

By default, everybody's pagefile should be set to 8GB. Did you disable hibernation? It actually takes a huge chunk of space, like 7GB for me.

Edit: Just noticed you have 12GB of ram. Yeah lol

Yup it is set to 8GB but according this link you dont need a pagefile with an SSD? Which free's up a large amount of space.

Pagefile is a picky subject. Personally I leave it alone, I'd only turn it off if you're that badly pressed for space. I still have 95GB on my SSD so it's not really necessary for me. I'd set it to like 2-4GB if you don't want to give it up but want some space, that should be okay.

well yesterday my hard driver was 39gb but today my harddriver is readin 30 gb XDDD is there a ghost in my laptop ? XD

edit: here is a picture of the pagefile size : http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/2548/pagefileb.jpg it says 12gb ? why is that because i am using 12gb of ram ?

PS: i installed the 12 gb of ram yesterday before i used to have 8gb, so maybe because of that it haqppend ?

also what happens if i dont use the page file ? i will get a slow down in the performance ? or what ?

YES that is the answer, win 7 does this by default. As suggested above, make it smaller if you want it on the SSD, or set it up on the HDD. Some programs need a pagefile.

so i can set the same amount that was on the ssd drive C: to the 500gb drive d: ?

will it be a good idea ? or it will slow down ? because i could get 12~18 gb more on my ssd :) ......

so my question is I SHOULD i use it on the seconds hard drive and MAKE the pagin file size SYSTEM MANAGED ?

    have anyone tried it ?

Right click on computer -> properties -> advanced system settings in the left pane -> advanced tab -> performance settings -> advanced tab -> virtual memory. You can then set it to nothing on the SSD and what you like on the mechanical HDD. Oh and don't forget to untick the box that lets the system manage the page file. Otherwise you don't be able to set it manually.

To disable hibernation, open a command prompt window as an administrator and type powercfg -h off. Congrats, you just freed ~24GB from your SSD.

EDIT: In regards to the page file, it is there in the event that you run out of RAM, windows will use the page file as temporary memory sotrage for information that would otherwise go to the RAM. With 12GB, i doubt you will ever max that out. Some programs don't like not having a page file though so just set one on the second drive.

On the desktop: no page file on the SSD, 8GB on the HDD. On the G73 which has no SSD installed: set to 2GB/2GB to preserve HDD space. Honestly, unless you have a SSD there's no reason to touch the page file except if you're OCD about those kind of things.
