Alot of people been commenting on SSD upgrades.
Mostly the X-25 from intel.
Found one for $250 after bing discount and even better write speed.
I think it is a deal just running this week, but not sure. I picked up 2.

Found about 9 left the the $260 price +$10 shipping. Using bing 8% discount comes to around $250 which you can't bet here are some specs.

Hope it helps some of you.

What is the speed for random 4k?
Do you have any benchmark for this?
A good deal is not only about the money.. -
No TRIM support on this SSD might be worth mentioning.

I using this for gaming. -

Benchmark I found trying to find the site that did an extensive review basically tested everything with good comparsions -

TRIM support is big for SSDs. Without getting technical, it helps maintain drive performance. Over time SSDs lose their performance levels, ie read and writes times take longer and longer. TRIM paired with Windows 7 helps keep the performance from degrading to the point of being HDD levels.
Here's an article written by Anand LaShimpi @ AnandTech. It's worth the read if you want to understand the nuances of SSD technology.

Last 1 year I am cool with it.

PS - I must be getting old, all the whiper-snappers and their disposable ways set my dentures on edge. -
As KDS-Steeler mentioned, TRIM is a very useful feature on SSDs. However, even in SSDs without TRIM support, you can also use third party programs like "SSD Tweaker" as an alternative.

Plus, please correct me if I'm wrong (again), G73 doesn't support RAID...

Does Tony TRIM work on Gen1 Intels? I've always been confused with what TRIM subsitute worked with what brand/controller. -
It will keep my performance up.
I decided to keep the other one. I have a work laptop that can use an SSD since I can't raid-0 them. Maybe updates bios will offer support later.
Who knows.
I really love raid 0 can't beat the performance once you tried it. -

This ssd has the Indilnx controller so you are good as gold, well silver actually. Performance wise, it still doesn't touch the Intel.
Something nice to remember that between 8-9 makers of ssds, the ssd in its entirety is shipped from a no name factory to all of them and then they simply add their logo and firmware... When you look at the dreaded JMicron stuttering controller that they couldnt get off the shelves fast enough, you learned that the following companies were all in the same shoes:
A-Data, G.Skill, Kingston, OCZ, Patriot, Run Core, Solidata, Supertalent and Transcend
Same ssds...different controller.
