    And it looked sweet!

And it was about $350 cheaper than my XPS which made me feel like throwing up. :(

The G74 chassis is slightly different then the G73 and i agree they have made some nice (slight) improvements. Asus, almost always, will have a better bang for your buck then Dell will offer and looking at your signature the gpu is where you'll see the most difference. Quick return your Dell and get an Asus ;)

Not sure if it's true but I hear best buy is already selling the G74 or are just about to (though with different specs).

    Knowing BB, they'll go for a 1 or 2GB GDDR5 version with a gimped 128-bit bus :p. Here's hoping they get a 1.5GB version though.

    Cheers,

I'm sure they have them, most resellers got them late last week. As panzer06 posted the BB models are typically pretty stripped down.

With Dell, you really have to be patient and wait for those coupons. They are usually stackable. A while ago I bought one virtually the same spec as this one with BR, BT but a 555M graphics card for about $1100 before tax (since returned due to a bad keyboard, frequent and random beeping, I also under-estimated how hot that metal body gets when the games crank up) with $350 off, another $100 off stackable, and free shipping, all togther a ~$500 off.

Been informed that a G74SX-3DE is being shipped out for me this week, so I'll be able to post pics and answer questions, and finally compare the matte 3d panel to the glossy ones we're used to.

Looking forward to it. If i can get the 6970m working at full perf in the JH, i'll look into other upgrades like the screen, G74 palm rest swap and SSD. In the end i'll have dropped the price of two G73s on it, but oh the fun of doing the mods :D. Now if Asus can give us a 570m G74, it'll be my next gaming notebook. C'mon Asus, make me want to stick with ya as i'd love to. I find the G series design to be the right balance between something sober and a gaming look.

Has anyone started a g74sx owners thread yet? i cant seem to find it and considering my limited time, i dont feel right starting it. BTW exchanged my g73sw-xr1 for a g47sx-xr1. thanks to a faulty ethernet port and screen bleeding on the g73.

I'm thinking about going and grabbing one of these over the weekend. Has anyone gotten their hands on one yet or have any impressions? I couldn't find any mention of it at all other then this and two other threads just saying people have seen them.

Also, there seems to be a lot of negativity here towards the BBY model. I've seen good reviews of the BBY models of previous Asus laptops so is there any specific reason to avoid this one over a botique version (I'm trying to avoid spenind a ton, otherwise I'd go for a Sager)?

Hey Chastity, where are you getting your G74SX-3DE from? I ordered mine from GenTech, and i havent received any notifications yet...maybe because I asked for the Intel Ultimate N-6300 with it...it may take them some more time to install it and everything...
