    I'll be buying an asus g750jw strictly from best buy(for reasons which I cba to discuss) within a month. I will then be shipping it to the Philippines. I have heard so many horror stories about this laptop (screen, hinges, mobo, sound etc. ) that I am now scared to purchase this one. Best Buy doesnt offer international warranty so that makes me worry more. Please tell me that I should not worry. Or should I just look for another? A macbook pro retina 13" perhaps?

    Well for one thing your comparing a 17" G750 to a 13" MacBook, two completely different formats. Most people that buy G750 have no issues thousands have been sold, as with any manufacture there are going to be a few lemons. If I bought a BB G750 I would thoroughly test it out. Run Furmark full screen 1080 15minutes your temp should not exceed 82 to 83C, run some serious CPU burning testing again your CPU shouldn't get above 80C mine stays in the mid 70's. Run some good benchmark testing software, test everything wi-fi, sound track pad everything. any problems just return it to BestBuy.
    The G750 is a gaming machine, you need to be a little geeky and understand how computers work. If you don't understand the kind of testing I mention above you probably shouldn't buy a gaming notebook any brand.

    Always open the lid gently and slowly from the center to keep forces distributed to both hinges balanced out.
    Check with ASUS and see if this unit qualifies for international warranty or not. If it has international warranty then ask if they know the contact information of the service point in Philippines.

    @clintlgm
    The thing is, I won't be there to test it. An aunt will be the one to buy it for me and bring it to the Philippines when she visits. She does not know anything about what you mentioned before.

    @kevin
    Yeah, it doesnt have international warranty. This is what the asus guy said "Thank you for understanding. As stated previously, it will be serviced by ASUS Philippines but will incur service charges since it doesn't carry an International Warranty. You can ship it in US or CANADA to avail of free service under standard warranty coverage."

    BB unfortunately gets lower warranties on their computers. Many times no international and almost always no accidental damage protection. Most Big Box stores are that way.

    So should I still proceed with the purchase? If not then I'll probably go with the macbook. I figured that since they only produce a few models per year then they would probably have better quality control.

    I think I would just get It from Amazon or one of the Custom builders to insure you get a working model with a warranty test it here in the states before you take it back.

    Personally I never base my purchases on what may go wrong. Some people a warranty is very important though, its all up to the individual. If you research any computer brand or model you will find someone that had issues. People that dont have issues typically don't post about how trouble free their computer is.

    You said you have to get it from BB, so if thats your only option then its your only option right?

    If the price and value are right to you, plus the brand name is sounding, then by all means purchase it from BB.
    But since you are taking it away oversea, then it's recommended to fully test the machine in advance before it can be cleared of sail.

    My aunt isn't exactly the most techy person. She can probably just check the outside appearance of it and nothing else. The thing is that if I buy it here in my country it would cost 550$ more. Do you know if one can purchase an international warranty from asus? I don't mean the geek squad warranty from bb but an actual international warranty. I've been talking to an asus rep and here is our convo.

    ASUS CASEID=RPTM20140311200311-784

    You're welcome. If ever the unit will be repaired at ASUS Philippines, the service charges will include parts, labor and shipping, if applicable.

    Thanks. But what about the parts that need to be replaced if ever the service center
    finds something. Do I have to pay for the part or just the fee for having it serviced?

    Well don't be too negative with the ROG laptop. If you need a gaming laptop then go for it. I'm also from the Phils and a G750 would cost alot here. Though there's another option you can get it for cheap. If you can let your aunt order here Mark Rothschild (laptopmaestro) - Philippines . It comes with an international warranty already. Maybe you can talk with the reseller and ask him if he'll accept payments from your aunt overseas and then deliver the unit to you. Best case scenario if I were you.

    Hey go to this forum G750 Series Notebooks when you get there PM cl-albert he works for Asus he can tell you where you can buy this notebook and the international warranty. I think that Amazon sales are international not sure though. To be honest BB is not an option for you since they are not international.

    They are usually listed once they are physically in stock. On Amazon you can pick different resellers you purchase from by click on the "XX new" hint* hint*
    We dont have an exact date on when they will be physically here but hopefully within a week.
