Does anyone else notice alot of screen tearing in game? I hook up my laptop to my 52 inch 1080p tv every once in a while and regardless if its the lappy monitor or the big screen I get alot of screen tearing. Ive played around with the settings till the cows come home vsync on, 60 hertz on and so on. Is this a vid card issue or is it a driver issue or is it just the games? Games I play in particular are Crysis and Stalker, Crysis isnt as bad but stalker is pretty bad, at the same time I realise stalker is buggy and naturally migh thave some screen tearing .

I have gotten the screen tearing effect when playing League of Legends. It only happens for a millisecond though and most of the time not annoying or detectable, on the same time a small problem can turn into a larger one if avoided. Could be a "Pre-PSOD" effect.

I've noticed it on StarCraft II, sometimes. However, when I do notice the screen tearing effect, I will GSOD at some point during the session. When I see no screen tearing, I will not GSOD. Weird.

I already had my GPU replaced, and it seems pretty stable right now, im leaning more that its just stalker and I need to find a fix, transformers wfc doesnt screen tear at all.... I really hope its not PSOD, but if its a PSOD isnt it the monitor?

Yep, it's the GSOD that's acting all up then. There are no solutions to a GSOD as of yet. The 10.8 works as a work-around and there are modified vBios that only work for "some" people. You can try stock ASUS drivers, worked for some people. A pre-phase screen flickers bad signs

I never had the issue when playing LoL last week, but it started today after the boot lock ups. i doubt it's just stalker or one specific PC game. It seems to be a hardware associated problem.

Interesting. On the unmodified beta vBios/ 10.8 prior to GSOD's and really through all gameplay, my screen would tear in Combat Arms (which lacks vSync cuz' it's a crappy game) like there's no tomorrow. Literally, every movement on screen produced a tear. Forced vSync in CCC didn't do squat.
I can't test it right now for obvious reasons.

I think it should be driver related. When ever i read the guru3d forums people there seem to say that ati makes bad drivers. And that if you want smooth game play turn on vsync and triple buffering.

You could try to use D3DOverrider which is part of Rivatuner to force Vsync in DirectX games on ATI cards. I haven’t tried it tho coz I haven’t had any problems with the games I played on this Asus so....... maybe worth a try to enable Vsync and triple buffering with this D3DOverrider.

Ill try tripple buffer when i get home from work, that might fix it i hope, I havent messed with that setting yet, just in game 60 hertz and vsync (playing stalker complete 2009), and then forcing it in CCC aswell, it takes it down a whole bunch but still some tears hangin in, im really thinking its setting based, ill take a look at crysis too, I think i got most of crysis warhead tears ironed out......

I get a lot of artifacting and some screen tearing when i slightly overclock my gpu to avoid gsods. Kind of a crappy trade off.

Enabling Vsync and enabling Triple Buffering from CCC really helped me from this screen tearing problem ..
    THanks ALL !!
