So guys, one day I wake up and I am about to get ready for some serious gaming (sunday morning :D) and i open my laptop, and the screen is black. I'm thinking huh whats going on, lets wait a little. So I sit infront of my laptop, no bios nothing the screen is completely black but all the lights on the keyboard work. Then i hear the windows sound, wihch tells me im in windows but my screen is not working. I am logged in by my face recognition, then i hear the login sound and that's when i realize, !

I assume my screen is broke or something, does anyone know if it might just be a software problem? So I could hook the laptop up to my TV and use that as a screen and figure out why my laptop screen is not working? Or do I have to send it back to best buy, who send it back to asus and the whole process is gonna take at least 2 weeks :(((

you should be able to hook it up to an external monitor via hdmi or vga. If it doesn't work at first toggle Fn+F8 or Windows Key + P.

as for the screen itself does Fn + F7 do anything while ur laptop is logged into windows? I would assume if you had accidently toggled this it would be reset with just a reboot, but i've never tried it.

Yea I have tried the fn + F7, did not help at all. My question is, does anyone know if the hardware part of the monitor is broken, or if it is a software problem that I can fix?

It could be either. You need to test. If you plug in an external monitor or television and you get a picture then your video card is most likely fine and you can assume the screen itself is likely the cause.

It could be a bad LCD controller, it could be a backlight out (Can you see images on the screen if you shine a bright light on it?) or it could even be an internal connection cable between the LCD and video output on your motherboard. (Have you ever opened your laptop up to repaste, change a CPU, anything?)

At this point you need to connect an external display to help narrow down the likely culprit.

    Good luck.

try an external display tv or something using HDMI VGA. It pretty much looks like you have a Dead screen or broken LCD cable.
