    Hey all,

Had my G74 for about a week. Noticed when i'm surfing desktop, or playing games, doesn't matter. Three to five times a day my monitor goes black for 5-15 seconds. Its on my external monitor which has never done this on my g73jh.

So if someone has some same problem or knows how to fix it I would be grateful!

    1) What version video driver are you currently running? HDMI or VGA connection?

    2) Just to confirm, this happens only on the external monitor and not on your laptop display?

    3) What resolution and refresh rate are you using on your laptop display and external monitor?

    4) Do you observe the same behavior on another external monitor or LCD TV?

    5) Have you tried a different cable?

Interesting. My external monitor does this too, albeit on a G73SW, and only for 1-2 seconds. Latest drivers here.

Ok Alaric, do you have a different monitor you can use? I unhooked my external and stuck in one of the other ones hanging around. Noticing no more black screen blips anymore. Which is weird because old monitor was fine on g73jh. But it requires a different for my g74sx. See if it helps!

Nope, I don't have any others. However, I'm not too worried about it. The "monitor" I'm using isn't really meant to be used as a PC display (Playstation 3D Display), and according to Playstation's forums this particular model just does this. I'm not the only one, in this case.

If I get my hands on another monitor I'll try it out, but for now it's not bothering me. Glad you got your issue sorted, though! :)

You could also try fiddlin' with the resolution and/or refresh rate of your original monitor to see if you could resolve the issue.
