If you read my previous post, well, I was what I thought was Gsods related to my previous update on DirectX. Not so.

Well my screen was working fine, then after restarting the unit, I started getting some flickering lines and dots on the screen. Sometimes I would not even get to see ASUS logo, much less the login screen or anything else. If i restart the unit right from having these "Gsods" I end up getting a blank screen, with nothing on it. If I let it cool off for a bit and restart then I might get to see the Asus logo, or get the Bios if lucky. but after a few seconds I'll get the blank screen again. It seems I'm on the verge of having a PSOD

Unless someone has a suggestion this lappy is going for a RMA.

I live abroad, there aren't any ASUS service centers here in Mexico, although I'll probably be traveling to the states in a couple of weeks. I'm not sure whether to wait an carry it with me, or ship it to the states. I'm waiting on Asus reply and my RMA number.

    Any suggestions?? Please???

Honestly it sounds like a driver problem to me. Have you done all of the Vbios and bios updates? Or tried to go back to the original Asus driver to see if the screen abnormalities go away? You may have no choice but to RMA it, however before you do I would be sure its not software. Maybe a full restore of the OS is in order just to be 100%?

In the end it could be the VGA cable or even your video card. I have just seen a non flashed G73jh act like that when drivers were conflicting.

edit. Sorry i just read your other post. I would dump the latest distro of directX and reinstall the driver. It would be a very random coincidence if you started having hardware failure just as you changed the directX distro.

After some tryouts... removing harddrives to see if it will boot up, the screen is completely dead not even showing the Asus logo at start up. I'm positive is either the video card or the Lcd panel.

just finished blind flashing the Vbios. Succesfully and I know it b'cse screen came back to life, only for a few seconds until those little dots and lines show up and went blank again...

Good luck to you. Seeing all these G73JH die everyday worries me so

Sorry, but how could this be a driver issue if this occurs duirng POST? No drivers have been loaded yet, he hasn't even started booting into Windows.

At any rate, I do agree that this is most likely your video card or RAM and will probably have to be RMA-ed.
